Nice read on the Can Am. I was not aware the "All American Grand Am"
show car's spoiler was the same as used on the Can Am.  Too bad the mold broke limiting production.  I wonder if any of the remainiing white T/A-6.6 Lemans coupes that were not converted still exist?

Clarification:  It's not the same spoiler, they are completely different.  The issue is a lack of clarity in the Hagerty article, which is my nice way of saying "poor writing".  What the author meant to say is that the concept of a rear spoiler came from the All American.  But even that's factually incorrect... the first 73-77 Pontiac A-body with a rear spoiler was the 1973 'Formula X' LeMans.

The Formula X LeMans had not only the rear spoiler, but a shaker hood too.  I remember when the HPP article came out in 2006; I felt like the history of the Can Am had been rewritten.  Since I can't link directly to the pictures, here's the article from HPP describing the three Formula X cars.

Thanks for the clarification, and link to the Formula X cars Jim.  I always thought the "All American Grand Am" should have made limited production.  Comparing pics side by side I now see the difference in the rear spoilers.  I am most familiar with the 73's since my father ordered one new ", and I have one now.

I plan on doing a "Can Am" functional shaker hood conversion on my Grand Am. I would love to have the rear spoiler on the Forumla X Le Mans or the one from the black 455 coupe in the 73 Car Craft article called "Grand National Am" (I think).
