Just removed the side window louvers,. Leaned the glass.  Stripped all paint from the louvers.  Looking to paint them.  Can anyone tell me how they were painted originally?  Were they flat, was the plastic the color of the car?  Were they gloss like the rest of the paint?

If I recall right there Plastic not painted had a smooth gloss plastic look on the car dye color of the car. But year in the sun they fade. most people would think they matte finish. After the first paint job, if they looked pretty good some not been painted. covered the glass out side would be painted but the under side or back side would be just over spray make most people think matt finish.

Since you have them out to reseal now the time to do ever thing to save them.

Well now a days with the plastic as old as it is paint will save the plastic from  SUV's

Yes, I pulled them out, cleaned the glass, stripped the louvers, painted them matte white and reinstalled them with new window weld.  For the first.t8me, they actually look great!

Thanks for the reply!

I have to reinstall my louvered windows and what did you use to seal them against the body?

I used the same product.  Exept is was 3M.  Use 1/8” for the louver to the body and use 1/4” for the glass to the louver.  Careful not to stretch it.  Cut into 12” sections to make it easier to work with.  A 10' roll of each will get you enough for both sides.
