| Hockey fans haven't seen this much great play out of Steve since the 1999 D2 State Championship. The way he talks about it, it seems he is running away with the MVP title. "I score at will." Sullivan may or may not have said. |

It doesn't look good for the Phatt man! After Tripp took his legs out from underneath him in the corner the Phatt man went down hard on his elbow opening up a cut that would chip the bone and required 6 stitches to close. While he still finished the game, he will be sidelined up to 3 weeks with the injury, adding to the uncertainty of the new look Black Bears. The ER Doctor credited the crack medical attention given by Fluff at the scene, saying "Fluff's quick attention avoided infection that could have caused more Gang Green then Bobrycki could imagine."

While my skating style (if "poor" actually qualifies as a style) leads to more than my fair share of incidental body contact...I'm always mindful to keep my stick under control.
What you see in that picture is our attempt to bring some levity to the BBHC by reviving the classic Steve Martin arrow-through-the-head prop gag, the hockey stick variation. Despite our best comedic efforts, Mike and I received NO reaction whatsoever from Mark (not even a smile), which casted a cloud over the whole holiday season. My day was slightly brightened by being on the Coffee Cup winning team, but Mike, by all accounts, was absolutely inconsolable after receiving the deadpan response from Mark followed by the heatbreaking loss in the final second (or less) of the Championship Game.  |

... or a shield sucks! It just does, especially when you never wore one growing up ... or ... the fact that it reminds me of that sweat you would get on your upper lip wearing those damn plastic Halloween masks.
But then I see this picture:
Now, I would never accuse Jumbone or Blake of intentional beheading or anything like that. I am sure that it was just accidental that both of their sticks are at eye level. But, this has convinced me to put the shield back on cause God knows ... "you wouldn't want to poke your eye out kid!"
(You know ... the more I look at this I think Blake's stick goes right through Uretsky's head ... has anyone talked to him? I hope he is okay. Of course, with the new rules there is no penalty here. Mark is clearly more concerned with noticing any obstruction interference and although Brian isn't shown in this picture, I am sure he has his eyes focused on any possible crease infractions). |

Hi Brion,
I feel bad ... reading this from you. Did you think the buzzer had sounded? It was very, very close, but I thought it was in there in time. We'll have to get Hockey Town to install an instant replay camera in the nets.
In any event, it certainly made for some excitement!

To my colleagues on the Rage,
Great effort today, men! A bitter pill to swallow, to be sure, since everyone (including TonyO) knows we should still be playing! (Well, OK, probably not everyone, but I promised I wouldn't mention anyone wearing white and black, since it's not Christian to speak poorly of the handicapped  ). It was a great season, and I really enjoyed playing with this squad.
Have a wonderful holiday! See you all in 2007!
