Bernhard asked me about this book and if I could answer your question. I think i can.

It is a kind of opening library on paper! It was written for computers without a library. There are variants listed and you could randomly select between them (i.e. by dropping a coin or drawing cards) and then you had to enter them with the multi-move-function in your computer.

There are no data or pics about chess computers in this book; only an explanation of this system and the opening variants!

best regards,
Robert

Hi Robert! You answered it!
Many thanks!

Karstens book "Der Schachcomputer Katalog 199x" do you happen to know whether this includes a complete catalogue of chess computers sold up to that date?

Do you have this book and is it still possible to get copies?

I have the first from 1991. Sometimes 1994..6 are sold on eBay. The later are more detailed (~150 pages) and a higher focus is on the software side.

Mine has 5 pages about pc software and 22 pages of chess computers. With Vancouver, Polgar 5/10, MM V, Milano, Super Mondial II, Travel Master, Roma II, Academy, Mondial II, Europa A, Schachschule, Marco Polo, Diablo, Scorpio, Super Expert C, Super Forte C, Super Nova, Super VIP, Renaissance, Maestro, Analyst, Galileo, Corona II, Turbo King II, Blitz, Shadow, Avantgarde, Designer 2265, 2100 Display, Kishon and  Dominator.

If you want a copy .. just let me know. My scanner is in standby mode.

Viele Gre,

Thank you for your kind offer. Well one would like a copy of every chess computer book but I would not put you to so much trouble. What attracted me was the possibility of getting a complete list of chess computers. It sounds boring but if amongst the more interesting stuff the book contained such a list that is what I would have wanted. Maybe nobody could sell such a book except to a few crazy collectors?

All the best
Mike
