Hi guys,

Luis: We should see the video out in the first quarter of 2007, still in time for the CC1 big 30th!
I wanted to released it earlier but as always, my busy schedule got in the way.

Now, I find it very interesting that Mike mentioned the March date since there's a good chance that's when the final version of the DVD will be out. I didn't announce it before since, like I said, I wanted to have it done before then. So I just thought it was a great coincidence when I saw this post with that time frame!

Interestingly, I tried hard to find out from news archives details about it and even ads from the time but nothing! I even came across a job ad for ladies from 1969! (May 25, 1969 - Apply Mr. Samole FIDELITY ELECTRONICS 5245 W. Diversey Assemblers-Women PM steady employment for reliable women who enjoy working with small parts...) But it seems there was not much in terms of archival information that I can find.

However, I did record a phone interview with a former Fidelity employee (it will be on the DVD) and she mentioned something about a buzz that was going on at the time when the CC1 was released.

I'll keep you posted. Wouldn't it be the perfect time for Excalibur (or other company) to release something?
I also wondered if some could build CC1 replicas! Just like we can buy today for the Altair (http://www.brielcomputers.com/altairpc.html)

Best regards,

Ismenio

Hi Luis

Shall we decide on an "official" birthday for the Fidelity Chess Challenger?

It was first exhibited in public at the Chicago Consumer Electronics Show in January 1977. The first document from a released example we know of here is a packing slip dated 9th March 1977. This was with one of Dick Schneiders CC1s.

Assuming it took a few days to be released it could have been March 15th - The Ides of March. Which also happens to be the wife's birthday. It would help me remember it if we could settle for 15th March.

Happy Birthday regards
Mike
