Perhaps you can explain a little better in english how the ELO ratings for active chess are calculated in Micha's Schachinfo site.  I also have difficulty in understanding the rating calculations.  I normally in my private games just let Chessbase calculate them for me which upto now has been easier on my poor mind.  But if i could understand the schachinfo rating system better I would follow it since it would help standardize the results.

Best regards

Nick

Hi Nick !

In my private Elo list Novag Solo has about 800 elo points, Novag Escort about 875 elo after 70 games.
I calibrate my list with Mephisto Rebell adjusting it 1800 elo.

Please have a look also at:

Enjoy your tournament !

Thanks for the information, I am currently playing a 30 sec/move tournament, this is why I was interested in the levels.  What is the ELO in your matches for the Escort and Solo?

Hi Nick !

I agree, level 5 fits best for 30sec/move.

I do not agree that Novag Solo and Escort have exactly the same program. Although Solo and Escort behave almost exactly the same in test positions they differ slightly in game play.
After 70 games each against the same opponents Novag Escort is 75 elo points ahead - not that much that a statistician would call it significant - but a tendency IMHO.
Until now I had not a single duplicate - so at least the random generator works fine in both machines.

Kindest regards

Hi Bobosse:
If level 8 is 2 min max what would your best guess be for 30 sec/move ?
Thanks
Nick

The level 8 is the slowest level.
Even at that level, it answers fast (around 2 mn max).
For that reason, there is not a lot of detail in the manual.

Bobosse:
Thanks for the information,. I had already looked on the Solo, unfotunately it does not help me, the Solo instructions only say levels 1-8.  They do not say anything about what the times are.  If anyone knows this for the Solo or Escort I would really appreciate the information.

Thanks and best regards

Nick

Does anyone happen to know the level settings for the Novag Escort.

I would greatly appreciate anyone who has a copy of the instructions available.

Thanks

Nick
