Hi Christian,

1. In case I get mugged in Paris metro the MMIV 18MHz will be easier to replace than a Fidelity V9.

you are right... almost : if you had taken an Elite or Res, it is more Saints with Eric and Patrick which would have been the "unsecured" location

People in Paris' metro have not idea of what a Fidelity Elite represents

see you tomorrow regards,

yes, Christian's machine is completely unknown to me even if it has a rating at Schachcomputer.info... and if Christian takes it, it is not only because it is more transportable than the Elite

Alain,

nonono it´s just for two reasons I will bring the MMIV:
1. In case I get mugged in Paris metro the MMIV 18MHz will be easier to replace than a Fidelity V9.
2. By finishing last I am sure to get a price

Hi Robert,

Quote from: Robert Weck on May 14, 2008, 03:02PM

The MM IV with a 16Mhz Turbokit by Schaetzle&Bsteh was rated at around 2090 SSDF-ELO; very good, but it should not quite be able to compete with the top-computers as Berlin pro, Montreux or Magellan...

Alain and Christian, i wish you both best of luck!

thanks !

Anyway, the fun is more important than the results (well I'd be happy to win one of the prices, the bottle of wine  ) and I think I'll set the Montreux to the "offensive" setting.

Best regards,
Alain

Hi Robert,

i would bet on the Montreux; it plays very good on Active Chess levels.

I hope you are right because Steve has provided two prices for the winner and the loser of the tournament :
1) A Hiarcs 12 program
2) A fine bottle of wine

The winner will chose his price and the loser will take the other one.

Hoping to win the bottle regards,
Alain

That's a nice collection of machines and programmers. Just a shame no Fidelity machines/Spracklen programs.

PS. my money is on MMIV 18mhz, I have the standard version, 5mhz I believe. It plays a very solid game.

also very strong should be the Magellan!

And there is a Spracklen program playing: the Sparc!

Boris - Turboking,

Hi,

for the third consecutive year, we will organize a dedicated machines tournament in Paris, or more precisely Saints near Paris. It will take place on Sunday May, 18th.

The machines which will play are not yet defined.
New participants can register by sending me an email.

Best regards,
Alain
