Ismenio

Let's sit down and discuss getting this second VTech over a nice cup of tea.

Now whose turn is it to go to Sicily?

I am not sure what I would do! Of course there's the value of keeping it in mint condition but I also like to play with my toys so...

I think the real problem here is that Mike may want to get a 2nd one to play with so we all will have to compete with him for the next one that pops up!

Be fair Ismenio. Had you even heard of a VTech Chess Master before this.

Dick tells me to keep it as it is. So I have to get another one to play with don't I.

Just don't tell Tom if you see one. OK?

All the best

This arrived from Messina, Sicily today :-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5196545870&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

You do not see these VTech handhelds very often on Ebay but I am not sure whether you could really call them rare. It was made in Hong Kong in 1983, and as it is an Oldie I had to have one. It is similar to a Mattel in concept with an LCD screen and cursor buttons for moving the pieces. It is however much smaller, say a third of the Mattel's size.

I cannot tell you how it plays or even if it is working. Although 22 years old, this one is brand new. The machine is still sealed in its wrapper. I have not opened it even to test it.

I am not sure whether I should open it.

Mike

Mike,

I certainly would not open it up.  I doubt that you are wondering how strong it is or if you can beat it.  They might not be worth much, but the ones that are still unopened have to be very rare.

I would maintain that rarity.
