Hi Robert.... You asked what are some of the different features between the Team Mate and the Conquistador. From what I can tell , the most obvious is the "C" has a timer for play with 2 LCD displays. The other difference I observed is that on the "C" the led's change colors.

Ah, ok, i thought, you mean operational differences and/or program features.

Sadly, the 2 LCDs can only show the time, no additional info (i would much prefer evaluation and search depth to be shown)

Hi Robert.... You asked what are some of the different features between the Team Mate and the Conquistador. From what I can tell , the most obvious is the "C" has a timer for play with 2 LCD displays. The other difference I observed is that on the "C" the led's change colors. If you take back a move....the led turns red during the process. I believe there are a total of three functional color changes but I am not sure. Iwill trust that you are correct that the play time and levels are exactly the same with the only major difference being the faster processor in the "C". I am again going to take a better look at how to separate/ open the case today without damaging the internal workings or the case itself. Its not a good idea to store these games with batteries as they will go bad and leak. I now have to get in there and replace the battery wiring to the clips. I just might wait till I get back from vacation to do this. Thanks for your help and info.

Hi Robert...thanks for your response...the Conquistador has a few more features than the Team Mate

ok, i'm not absolutely sure about that, but the programs should be identical! It is a slightly modified (different levels and modified library) version of the old Turbo 16K program.

What features do you mean? (i do not own a Team Mate)

the levels are identical...

Hi Robert...thanks for your response...the Conquistador has a few more features than the Team Mate and I believe the response time per move are most likely different at the 17 levels of play. I also just discovered that batteries were left in the compartment and the terminals are corroded now. It's not playing with new batteries but does play with a 9 volt power supply. I tried to take it apart to repair and clean the insides but there is a clip of some sort on the inside bottom that isn't letting me separate the 2 halves. I need to take a break from working on it and try again when I am not tired. Thanks again for your suggestion.

Hi all... I have just acquired a Kasparov Conquistador chess game in really good shape. I have the thick black computer assisted learning manual (CAL) but the users manual was not included in the original box. The users manual has much of the information necessary to make playing the game interesting and enjoyable. I have tried without luck to find this manual to download. Is there any chance someone on this site has this manual and can help ? Thanks

You can use this one: http://alain.zanchetta.free.fr/docs/Misc/KasparovTeamMate.pdf
the only difference between the Team Mate and your Conquistador is the CPU-speed (8 MHz in the TM and 12 in the C.)

have fun with it!
