Hi folks,

Larry Kaufmans Computer Chess Report 1986 (thanks a lot to Ismenio!) describes some chess computers which are new to me. Seems that the US market was more different to Germanys as expected?!

- Mephisto MM III module (= Rebel 5.0)
- Turbostar 540, 540+ (a Turbostar 432 + KSO module running at 5.33 mhz), 640 and 740
- a stronger SuperConstellaton B running at 5 mhz

Does this computers exist in real or only on paper?

Viele Gre,
Bernhard

I think the 640 and 740+ ratings were interpolated, and the units never existed.  If you know Stefan Ottow, I sent him a copy of CCR '86, and some later CCR's

I purchased a Turbostar 540+ from ICD (Now chessusa.com) in 88 or 89.  It had the KSO module, and a sticker on the back that said it had been modified to run at 5.53 MHz.  I foolishly sold it to a guy in Germany in 1992.

The only result I can think of at the moment is Chelsea 4 - Bayern Munich 2.

4-1 would have been fairer.

Fantastic second goal by Frank Lampard.

Sorry where can I find this article.

Mike

indeed, Frank Lampard is a real Soccer God. His second goal was a dream. Bayern was verrrrry lucky and can be happy loosing only 2-4. I have no idea about the reasen for the "Elfmeter" in the last seconds.

Who bets against that Chelsea reaches the next round? I don't.

Bernhard

Are they running in Turbo mode 35Mhz? What's the ELO?

I don't those were prototypes Bernhard so there must be some units out there but I can't be certain. Whoever finds that info first, please post the results here.

Danke,

Ismenio
