Hi Robert
Hmm so it's pretty weak then?
A pity, so it's mostly aiming at a more mass market, with the visual appeal of auto moving pieces, where the actually gameplay takes a back seat.

I'ts a shame that they don't think out of the box with dedicated chess computers & have them USB to PCs etc, so that a strong software program could present itself THROUGH the tabletop machine as an option.

Afterall, in the music industry, Synth makers are evolving physical synths so that they 'act' like VST plugins inside a PC Digital Audio Workstation, thus as well as being a synth in the physical world, its synth engine can be presented like a soft-synth inside the DAW & therefore sit alongside & be controlled just like other soft synths.

What i've described above would be the reverse, but similar & certainly not impossible.

1) Is it well made?

As i don't own one, i must leave the answer to somebody else...

2) Does it play an strong & intelligent game of chess? ( what's its rating?)

It has the same program as Alexandra The Great and Deluxe Talking Touch Chess; on our Active Chess list http://www.schachcomputer.info/html/aktivschach_elo_liste.html they have a rating of 1653 ELO. For USCF rating you should add about 200.

Hi All,
Been sniffing around the Phantom Force by Excaliber recently online, & was wondering if anyone here has any experience of it or own one?
I suppose the two most important questions are:
1) Is it well made?
2) Does it play an strong & intelligent game of chess? ( what's its rating?)

Cheers
