you need to put the rams upon each other and to modify the excel 68000.

its a little risky. if you do wrong, you lose the excel.

It is possible also to expand the RAM. I had a MachIII and upgraded my Excel. Their play was identical after the modifications.

Yes, I agree with you that this should be possible.

A friend did this and it worked. But you can never be sure, that it will work with every computer...

Hello Robert,

Yes, I agree with you that this should be possible.

With this upgrade, I would like to  :

- have a Excel program with no error in mate searching level (http://www.schach-computer.info/wiki/index.php/Fidelity_Excel_68000_Mach_II).

- trying to evaluate the difference between the Club and Mach III,  hash size versus program with selectivity.

Of course,  the Excel Club will never be an Excel Mach III because of the 1/4 size of its hash table.

Thank you for your opinion.

Hello,

I would like to know if anybody have upgraded the Excel Club 68000 with eprom of the Excel Mach II (LA) or better with the eprom Excel Mach III ?
If yes, I'm looking for these eproms for my Excel Club 68000 (ie a dump of the eprom by email).
Thank you for your help.

it should work, but the Excel Club 68000 has only 16 KB for hash tables, while Mach II has 128 and Mach III 80 KB for hash.

So you won't be able to make a real Mach II/III out of your Excel 68000...
