RadioShack 1650 Level7 vs Touch chess II

This was actually an interesting 4 game match conducted by myself. The RadioShack 1650 chess computer is a historical chess computer for me . It is the first chess computer that I bought (1987).However after winning easily one game at the tournament level(which is level5) , with the black pieces , I soon turned my attention to levels 6 &7. At level 7 , the computer takes between 1 to 5 hours to make a move!! Touch chess II was set to 40 moves in 2 hours. Please note that RadioShack has Permanent Brain, while Touch chess II does not. This is actually an old vs new type of experiment to see , how much software for intermediate level computers has improved.I had predicted before the match that it would be close, and close it was!! Touch chess won by the narrowest of margins with 3 draws and one win.Of course each game took several days to complete , because RadioShack took hours to decide on a move . Here are the games with comments following :

Some comments (after PC engine analysis) :In the first game Touch chess had an easy win after 30.h6 .It should have played 30....Qd8. But it played 30....d5? and the game ends in a draw .In the second game ( The only decisive game). RadioShack lost because of 24....Qb7.This is a very interesting ply type of error, the kind computers of the mideighties made, even when set to high think time.Touch chess II had a faster win then what happened in the game , but it nevertheless won eventually. The fourth game is the most error free from a PC engine standpoint .The Combination initiated by Touch Chess II , starting with 27.Nxg5 is interesting ,but good enough only for a draw.

                        Touch chess II Regards
