Dear Johnnygar,

Oh, do not worry!  In about October, November, or December (I have yet to decide), I will put up three (3) Novag Solos, two (2) Novag Super VIPs, one (1) Novag Topaz, and one (1) Saitek Coach Partner for sale---perhaps about 325-375 USD.  I will include a LOT of free, very good to new looking chess books on top of this, and there will be no postage fee.  Stay tuned!  There will be another chance to buy something....

Dear Steve,

I replied to you via yahoo, but hopefully, when you reply, perhaps you could reply to two (2) addresses---the one on my boardnation profile that you used and the address of the actual email that you received....

Dear JG,

I am located in New York City, United States.

It is unfortunate, but I am trying to sell this as a lot because this stuff is cluttering my room.  Hence the "sweetening" of the deal by throwing in $30+ worth of books for free.

If you can accept these circumstances, then I would be happy to redirect you to my friend who will take a PayPal payment.

If you live in NYC, a pickup would be even better...I could meet you anywhere in Flushing (Queens) or Times Square (Manhattan)....

Hi
My I ask what country you are located? If in US, then, what city?
I would be interested in the Star Diamond and wonder if its sold seperately and if so; more details to the specifices of the deal....
From the description, sound like packaging and functioning in good order.

  Thanks

I am offering the following chess computers for sale (325 USD, with no shipping costs for domestic [American] buyers):

[1] The Systema Meteor, [2] The Videomaster Chess Champion, [3] The Novag Chess Champion MK II, [4] The Novag Star Diamond, and [5] The Chess King Pocket Micro.

Google searches will tell you all you need to know about the capabilities and playing levels of these computers, but brief descriptions of each unit follow.

[1] The Systema Meteor (powered by alkaline batteries) has a peg sensory board within an enclosable case, with a BCF rating of 100 that corresponds to a rough ELO of 1750. [2] The Videomaster Chess Champion (powered by an included AC adapter), which touts a probable ELO of below 1000, only allows users to take the White pieces, and it accepts illegal moves. Users input their moves with a keyboard. [3] The Novag Chess Champion MK II (powered by an included AC adapter) has a probable ELO of below 1000. Users input their moves with a keyboard. [4] The Novag Star Diamond (powered by batteries or an AC adapter, not included in this auction) has a probable ELO of 2000 and has a sensory board unit that encases plenty of goodies (PC connection, auto-play, random move generator, over a hundred thousand openings stored in its memory, etc.). [5] The Chess King Pocket Micro (powered by one included battery) has eight levels of play and users input their moves with a keyboard.

As for the conditions of these computers, the [3] Novag Star Diamond had only one owner for its whole life, and this owner took very good care of it. The owner only used the battery compartment for a few days (after the initial purchase in the summer of 2004) before sticking with an AC adapter. The unit itself had a brief and rarely used career that included transmitting games to the PC via its serial port. The black cloth case that houses the Star Diamond (while the owner presumably takes it on the go) has a slight cosmetic scratch at the top.

The other computers, purchased from other people, have unknown numbers of previous owners. [5] The Chess King Pocket Micro, when first purchased, had an awful smell that seemed to indicate previous exposure to a smoking environment, but a long period in a non-smoking environment has watered down that stench to that of an old but not offensively smelly book (none of the other computers spent time in smoking or malodorous environments). All of the battery compartments show no horrendous battery corrosions that would impede everyday function, albeit the older computers that require batteries have compartments that show signs of just slight and normal oxidation. All computers, if not already clear, work.

All the computers last belonged to the same owner, who kept them in dry, cool, and dark environments generally free of dust.

The [2] Videomaster, [3] Champion, and [4] Diamond all come in their original boxes, but the boxes of the [2] Videomaster and the [3] Champion show clear signs of wear and tear. Except for the [4] Diamond and the [5] Pocket Micro, the computers come with instructions in varying conditions of wear, age, tear, and abuse; the [3] Novag Chess Champion MK II comes with a sheet saying some words in German that may or may not define the manual. Manuals for the Novag computers, in any case, remain readily available for online download and printing. We will, upon request, canvass online chess computer users for a manual to the Pocket Micro.

ERRATA: The Pocket Micro came to the present owner with three pawns missing (two Black and one White). The Meteor has a compartment for the pieces, but it opens a little too easily to make any owner feel comfortable holding it in the open air or in the street.

To sweeten the deal, we will include, free of charge, the following books in a plastic bag (both in very good condition. If you are sure that you will keep all the computers and not refund a single one, then you can ask for these books and we will mail them to you, again free of charge.  You are not obligated to receive these books, and you are allowed to decline receiving them, but do remind us to send them after you are satisfied with the computer purchase.

[1] The Taimanov game anthology published by Cadogan Chess ($19.95 when purchased)
[2] The Game of Chess by Tarrasch ($10.95 when purchased)

The buyer receives all these computers with the chance of a refund (shipping at the expense of the buyer) if the package has a postage date on or within fourteen (14) days of the day of shipment (effectively still more than a week for the buyer). The computers must come in their original condition, the criteria for which rest within the discretion of the seller.

Pictures are available on request.

One more note: When you pay for these things, you will NOT pay me, but a friend of mine. I personally vouch for the legitimate business practices of the friend in question.  I have purchased a Fidelity Chess Card from one of the users of this forum (see the thread from four years ago; I purchased the Card from Dick Schneiders) and at that time, I did not buy the item via PayPal, but someone else did it for me. I hope you can understand (sighs).

So for now, if you email me, I can answer questions, but at some point, for the payment, I will redirect you to my friend.
