hi sid, there is a company that sell "repair and rebuild kits" for the type of switches you refer to. the rubber or plastic press down type mounted on  membranes. they also carry silver conductive paint for repairing breaks in those flimsy ribbon cables. the Co. is Action-Electroniics. I think WWW.action-ecectronics is the site. regards, tony

Hello all.  My name is Isidro, but everyone just calls me Sid.  I am new to this forum, but not new to chess or chess games.  My 7 year old grandson and I play chess all the time.  We recently bought him a laptop and had ChessMaster 10 installed on it.  He plays it constantly.

I was wondering if someone could help with my problem.  I recently bought a Kasparov/Blade Chess game second hand.  It played well for a while, but now when it is powered up it only says "White to play....Illegal move."  I opened it up and disconnected the membrane switch playfield and when I power it up it now says "White to play"  which is what it is supposed to do.

I have 20+ years of electronics experience and I am sure I can repair it.  My question is:  Does anyone know of a website or anywhere that I can get technical information on this game?  Does anyone know if there is a troubleshooting guide or anywhere that I can order a replacement membrane switch/board for this?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
