Alain,

Thank you very much, you explained everything very well, as usual, and got more info about the boards that I would have hoped for.

Best regards,

Kostea

Which board do you like most when hooked up to a PC, and why? Please mention some pros and cons of them. I want to get one but I'm still undecided.

I think it is similar to the Mephisto PC Board (not sure) and if this is the case, forget about it because it has a parallel connection.

Parallel connection => forget about it

Great board, I like the 81 leds, works perfectly.

Looks like the UCB but (mine) is not as well finished.
Is not made for PC connection so there are some misbehaviors, people have found some workarounds which do not work perfectly : to clear the errors, you have to accept to lose the move's display on the board, which is one advantage of UCB/Citrine against DGT.

The most beautiful, with the largest pieces.
But no moves display. DGT XL clock should compensate but it is not compatible with all board : I have one and have never been able to display the move on the clock, it seems that my board is too old.

Conclusion :
1) if you want to be able to play without keeping the PC's display in view :
a) DGT + DGT XL is the ideal if you can check that it workd
b) UCB

2) if you don't care about keeping the PC's in view
a) DGT
b) UCB
c) Citrine

and forget the others.

Best regards,
Alain
