Still hoping for someone to respond regarding my GM. The interior appeared to be brand new, nothing suspicious, belts and gears looked in good shape. When beginning to play the GM no longer moves the pieces around like before. After hand placing the men, and making first move, the light is on for "white", after the move, the light "black" comes on and I can hear movement like it is trying to respond, but the black men don't move. Is there an expert that can help fix this 30 year old gem?

Maybe it helps to put some new lubricant on the slide rails (it's the same mechanics as in a plotter)

If neccessary, you could remove the old lubricant with ethyl alcohol (ethanol)

I am no technician, so maybe somebody has some more (or better? ) advice...

best regards,
Robert
