Hi Robert
I used an old Fujitsu Stylistic running Windows 98 which works great as I couldn't get my other old HP tablet to communicate with the Citrine with Windows XP.

Hi Tony
Here's a link to my Citrine that I have incorporated a Tablet PC into so that I can play against Arena's UCI engines including Rybka, Hiarcs and Zappa Mexico II

A great job! (as always  )

Which Tablet PC did you use for it?

Tony
I incorporated the whole Citrine into a new housing but I had to cut the front of the Citrine away to allocate the tablet pc. I also took the magnets out of the pieces and fitted them into larger pieces.
Here is a link to my first Citrine conversion where I extended the LCD cable so that the display came out of a draw at the front.

Hi Byran, did you build around your citrine keeping the same cabinet? or did you remove all the electronics as I plan to and build a new cabinet for it. your modifications are awsome.

WOW, I didn't realize they were that expensive in Europe. In the US if you shop around you can get a new one for 300 to 350 USD.  regards, Tony

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your observations about the Citrine.  I was considering buying one to do the opposite, and replace the electronics with something that would directly support USB and Bluetooth or 802.11.

I think I might give it a miss now.

The conclusion seems to be...

Hmm, not exactly a glowing recommendation for spending 250-300GBP.

Cheers

first I would like to thank everyone for the kind comments on my GM conversion and am now tearing a Citrine apart and working on priliminary drawings and changes I will make. I was very dissappointed with quality of the materials and workmanship of this computer. even the sides of the cabinet are only veneer over what looks like pressed paper board of some type. I plan on a complete rebuild using solid black walnut and maple along with some mods. like a built in display. why they stuck it on a 3" cabel to flop around I'll never know. probably relocate the option button for easier access and mabe go to one LED per square instead of four. lights up like a x-mas tree. I tend to favor the mephisto exclusive one LED / sq. I'll keep the forum posted on progress. my 1st step is to remove all the electronics and look things over. I will say thet the electronics portion look very well constructed and soldered. again thankyou, regards  Tony

Assume.
Very well done, what an excellent design. I like the way you have incorporated the round Excalibur logo into the board.
Best chess computer 2010.
