Hi Alain,
I did go back and take another look at the Fr. manual on your site. You are correct and I have little to offer in my defense....however I failed french in school the first time around and my second sad excuse was that it was almost 3 am and I function poorly at this hour (not sure I do much better at other times either) so with that I stand corrected. I am still curious if I have the early version or the later version of the manual.  Best regards    Hondo

Hi Hondo,

the French manual do not have this paragraph.

I just found it in a English manual for the Sapphire which I have downloaded once from novag.com, and then I checked again : definitely no mention of the "small mistake" in the French version.

best regards,
Alain

Hi Alain,
If you look under "AVERAGE TIME LEVEL-AT1-AT8" it talks about a small mistake and it also describes this same mistake in the Novag Diamond. The manual says you can play for a while but it (the game) will not work properly after a few moves. The manual then instructs you to use the "USER PROGRAMMABLE TIME CONTROL FEATURE" to correct this issue. However as I said...my manual doesn't state this and I am not sure if it was an issue corrected or it was an early print of the manual before the problem was recognized.

Hi Hondo,

I have had a look at my French manual but I haven't seen any reference to the bug that you are mentioning and which seems indeed well known from our schachcomputer.info's friends (may be I did not look carefullt enough ?)

best regards,
Alain

I have recently purchased an older Novag Sapphire (1994) and found there is more than one version of the owners manual. The manual which I dont have describes a "small mistake in the program...  the average time levels do not work properly after a few moves have been made." My owners manual says nothing about this issue. I went to Alain's site and found that the FR. version of this manual is set up entirely different from the other 2 and it also addresses this program error ! I am not sure if I have the later version of this game and the issue was resolved or I have the earlier version and Novag updated the manual after the problem was discovered. Can anyone shed some light on this as it would be greatly appreciated. I was also curious if there is a direct translation of the French version ( on Alain's site ) to English as there seems to be some other changes not in my manual but my French isnt good enough to read it.
