Thanks very much for the link, B4xter.  Unfortunately I was too late and missed the auction!

Tascmaster,

there is a perfect Renaissance board on the ebay now! And you don't have to bid for it, because it is 'sofort-kaufen', the price is 299 EUR:

So I guess this means that it is not full tournament sized? (even though the board itself is bigger than tournament sized).

You are right. The board is big enough, but it has a really wide frame - the playing area is just 38.4x38.4 cm.

Not a typo, it is 38.4 cm exactly.

Hello chaps

Thanks for the heads up on the Sale & Swap.  Although I missed it, I have no regrets, as I want the Renaissance rather than that Galileo / Leonardo.  I like the extra LEDs and LCD.

I did have a question, however:  is the Renaissance a true tournament sized board?

Kurt's site lists the dimensions of the Renaissance as follows:

"52 x 52 x 5.4 cm / play area 38 cm / field size 4.8 cm / king height 95 mm "

http://www.schach-computer.info/wiki/index.php/Saitek_Renaissance

I thought a tournament sized board needed squares of at least 2.25" (or 5.7cm), which means a playing area of at least 45cm x 45cm.  Is the reference to "38 cm" a typo?

Bryan,

thank you for calling our attention to Eric's special offers. I quickly bought a Citrine (with some light scratches) and a Star Sapphire... The Sapphire is on my wishlist long time ago - and this one is practically brand new! Eric's shop is a goldmine.

TascMaster:

I think it will be a very hard task to find a Renaissance, it is a collector's dream. I have a nice specimen with the Sparc module - but it is not for sale: you have to shoot me if you want to get it

Hi
It's a pity you didn't post a week ago as UK top collector Mike Watters announced his 2011 Swop/Sale on his web site and he has a Galileo for sale for just £100 which is very similar to the Renaissance you are looking for. Unfortunately for you it went very quickly.
Eric Hallsworth has a couple of Citrines for sale at cost price because of a couple of small dents on them. If nobody buys them, he is going to send them back to Novag for a refund so be very quick if you want a bargain.
Regards from Cheshire.

I am in the UK and looking for a Renaissance in very good or excellent condition.  The module is not particularly important.

If anyone is interested in selling one, please let me know.

Thank you.
