I had been posting previously under phantom 1624. Just noticed my transposition error. Had a chance to open my machine. Found a scary soldering job with many cold joints. These were mainly on the power and initialize parts of the 6100 board. Correcting them may fix all the issues. The Chesster piggyback board is inverted and plugged into a chip socket on the 6100 board. One interesting thing that I found was that the 6100 Processor is a 6 Mhz W65C02P-6 running on a 4.915200 Crystal, 32K x 8 Eprom, and 8K x8 of ram. The Reference notes I have found shows the Fidelity phantom series either a 5 Mhz 6502 or a better 3.6 Mhz 65C02. There is no mention of a 5 Mhz 65C02. That's 73% increase in the thinking speed on the more powerful processor. If the data's correct then it's no wonder why it seems hard even on easy levels. I notice that the schachcomputer site lists the 6124 as more common then the 6126 yet I have found no ref to a dedicated manual like those for the 6100 or 6126. The solder work and quality was also inconsistent with a production run. Has anyone opened their Fidelity Phantoms? I am interest in the board connections of the 6126 for the motion sensor or the identity of Chip U4 that was replaced by the Chesster board on the 6100. I have supplied a link to my google drive directory pertaining to the 6124. I will include manuals and pictures as well as other useful data I learn on the Phantom Chesster 6124. Including circuit parts identification as I figure them out. This will be updated but the link will not change. If this site does not allow links then I will make a blog page. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0ByQNdG5k7HUkaEFDRUdYdmItWW8&usp=sharing
