Mike:
Try this one: http://xs29.xs.to/pics/05205/dirty_dozen_small.GIF
I may be too small though. I can see if we can enhance it later

Ruud:
You still need to contact me regarding that fellow from South America who has questions about the module (PS: Loved your picture )

Christian:
I still think calling the group the Dirty Dozen was a move worthy of a GM title

Thanks!

Resurrection : The Dirty Dozen

Guys,

The dirty dozen sounds great. Although i have to inform you that i also own a Resurrection

And i have two testers in Holland : Louis van Bever and Hein Veldhuis.

But if you select only the buyers then there are indeed only the dirty dozen. Although all the postings that have been made have interested a considerable number of more people.

And remember : Resurrection is maximised on 25 pieces, so do not wait any longer....

Regards,
Ruud Martin

Ismenio,

great picture!!!

Had I only known that my sloppy dirty dozen remark had such consequences...I would have made it earlier

Maybe we should propose Ruud to use this picture as a background picture for the active graphical display

What do you think?

I do have the manual and dire warning in English. Surprisingly it hasn't yet appeared on Alains site.

it is not that surprising : I don't have a Resurrection module

Mike, did you get the manual in English?
Also, did Ruud give any details about upgrades.

I thought it was interesting that he posted about others writing programs for the module. I would image he would be publishing some sort of SDK, API or something like that.
That's what a programmer can use as a reference to write 3rd party code for a computer.

It would also be interesting to "hack" the unit! Don't mind me, that's just a programmer speaking

Nice poster Ismenio.

If I could reduce that I would use it for my posting picture thingy. Sadly I followed your instructions for manipulating pictures and it (Microsoft Paint) always tells me it can't handle that picture format. I know that I must be doing something stupid but I just do not have the knowedge.

I do have the manual and dire warning in English. Surprisingly it hasn't yet appeared on Alains site.

Apparently there is already a 2.01v and manual and that could well arrive by email today. Ruud describes the update as this :-

Chessfriends,

I have worked on some existing bugs.

1) Promotion is now ok. Pawn a3a2 does not give a promotion question
anymore. Only A3A2 was a problem.
2) Variants are given the right figureletters in Deutsch. Eg. Ld7 and
not Bd7.
3) Setup Board left and right are now correct.
4. Keys are responding like a vancouver. This means that a single push
will active the functions.

New Function :
1) Reverse board is available.

I do not know why there is a new manual. Maybe there is a section about downloading.

Anyway we will soon see just what is involved in downloading new programs, potentially a fantastic innovation for chess computers.

Ismenio and Christian

Thank you for your congratulations. I would have liked to post my game but unfortunately the Resurrection was so disgusted with his draw that he lost it for me.

Actually although material was even Q,Kn,6 pawns Resurrection was showing 0.30 up and it would only have been a matter of time before I blundered.

The Resurrection works with the normal Modular board power supply and also the extra circuit board power input. Is that what others have found? Ruud reckons it is best to use the normal power input if you can.

Hi All

It has arrived.

Currently the Resurrection sits in a Modular board and Ms Polgar is out on her ear. Just one game so far -
Mike v Resurrection 1/2 - 1/2 in 34 moves. Well the Resurrection does not accept draws, as far as I know, so I made up its mind for it.

Mike,

congrat.
Huuuuh. A draw! That´s not so bad for a start...are you an IM or did you just set his power supply to 3V

And, most important: Where is the game?

Hi all, hi Mike,

don't have a board right now but I guess there must have been a tactical reason for this.
Christian: Thank you for your games, I'll look over them next weekend (when I have a board or a computer with an installed chess program available again).

At schachcomputer.info I've already posted four further games (the third one showed the small bug which Ruuds adressed in his email to the ´dirty dozen´).

For the sake of completeness I'll include them here too.

Resurrection Regards,

Hi All,

since the Resurrection obviously has its problems with the Tasc I
played two games against the Sapphire 2. The first game was really a
surprise for me. Ruffian did not come out very well out of the opening
(one pawn down), and the Sapphire did not let him escape. In no part of
the game there was any chance of counterplay for the Resurrection.
Especially the endgame was played very well by the Sapphire.
In the final position the black Knight has got no moves at all, and the
black king can only move between e7 and f7.
Compliments to Mr Kittinger!

The second game was vice versa. Bad opening played by the Sapphire, and
the Resurrection crushed him in a few moves.

I guess you won't want your Tasc anymore right?

Ismenio,

since the Resurrection at his current state does a little bit hard to beat the Tasc, I guess Mike would keep him a while

Just had a phone call from Ruud. The Resurrection is on its way.

Martin,
Many thanks for posting the games. The Tasc/Resurrection games are good ones. Plenty of complications. Resurrection looked like it would break through in the first. I cannot really believe it did not play 45. Nxf5, or am I missing something?

By the way, calling the group the "Dirty Dozen" was clever! I loved it!

I cannot take the credit for "Dirty Dozen", Christian started it.

Mike,

I am sure you would the "dirty dozen thought" came to your mind instantaneously...you just did not dare to mention it here

You let this do the young and foolish...:

King for a day, fool for a lifetime! Hope I didn´t offend anybody.

I have a feeling you work for the MI-6 Mike! (or the Scotland Yard!)
And now I know too much right?

Now you know this you will receive a visit from strangers who talk funny and have a dry sense of humour. Keep a packed suitcase with you at all times. You may have to leave at a moments notice.
