Try this one: http://tinyurl.com/crxrm

It's the computer translated version of the entry for the Novag super Expert C from the great Schachcomputer.info Wiki!

Here's the intro page to the site in English:

What is everyone opinon of this machine.  I am planning on buying a new computer soon.  It is important for it to be wooden and able to print games.  I contacted mephisto and they said this machine does not print.  I could not believe it.  Why develope such a nice machine but yet it does not make hardcopies.  Any suggestions.....?
Jon

Of course you are correct about the lack of a print facility on Mephistos. Whilst it is possible to connect up most other makes of wooden boards to a PC or direct to a printer, Mephisto no.

Personally I am not a fan of the Saitek boards and Senator. The Chinese boards now sold are not as well made or as pleasing as the older German boards. The Senator module is poor in terms of its display and features, compared with many of the earlier Mephisto modules. As a personal preference I would go for a good second hand Mephisto board with whichever modules suit you - Polgar, Vancouver, Genius?

Limiting yourself to a new wooden board cuts down your options drastically. For a nice wooden board plus printer it is hard to beat a Novag Super Expert and printer combo.

Just my opinion.

Some Novag computers still have a serial connection which can be used to transfer games to a PC, for example the Star Diamond which is also very strong. But it is not a wooden autoresponse board...

Best,

Jon,

I think that's probably the finest wooden chess computer currently being produced. Unfortunately, using a printer is not an option nowadays, believe it or not

I would also consider a Mephisto pre-Saitek. (Hegener & Glaser) They had excellent computers! But of course, that would be a used one.

I'm sure others will have other opinions here.
