Hi Tom,
I don't think one huge file will work. Even if my hotmail mailbox has more than 80MB free, a single message would likely fail ...
I'll do the conversion to PDF : I have written a small program which takes picture and builds a single PDF file.
Best,
Alain

Did you take the PDF specs and translate them into Perl, Java, C++ or whatever? Very good!
But I split them up into three files and hope that'll work. You should see them coming soon.
Thanks a lot & best regards,

tom

But please tell me where to send it. And I'll send you a RAR'ed or ZIP'ed 80-MB file. Or is that too bulky?

But I should warn you they're mainly TIF-files. That's what comes out of the scanner and I don't know how to convert them into the neat PDF stuff that I see on your site.

Looks very systematic, Alain! You don't happen to be German do you?

So whenever someone asks about manuals, you can just refer them to that site, where they can ftp-download whatever they need.

That's exactly what my site does

Alain/Ismenio

I don't need this space specifically for me. I just thought because all collectors are probably accosted with queries about manuals , I thought it would be nice if there were some space where manuals are stored.

So whenever someone asks about manuals, you can just refer them to that site, where they can ftp-download whatever they need.

I made a list of the manuals I have in digital form. They are:

  Acetronic Traveller (4.8 MB)
  Boris (120 KB)
  Chess Challenger 7 (1.8 MB)
  Chess Express (6,8 MB)
  ChessKing (160 KB)
  Chessman Engl (80 KB)
  Chessman Dutch (90 KB)
  CXG1 (1 MB)
  CXG2 (300 KB)
  CXG Royal (690 KB)
  CXG Enterprise (5.8 MB)
  Fidelity Gambit (1.1 MB)
Kasp Adv Travel Ch (4 MB)
  Kasp Atlas (4 MB)
  Kasp Simultano (13.3 MB)
  Krypton Meteor (6.6 MB)
  Master (4.4 KB)
Meph Adv Trav Ch (1.3 MB)
  Meph Eur A (7.7 MB)
  Meph Mini (890 KB)
  Meph MMV (3.25 MB)
  Meph Rebell (2.8 MB)
  Schneider Mk3 (540 KB)
  Scisys Turbo (800 KB)
  Tandy 16 K Turbo (680 KB)
  Tandy 1650L (900 KB)
  Tandy 1850 (4.25 MB)
  Tandy 1850 - French(4.25 MB)
  Yeno 301XL (6.7 MB)

I would think that´s about 90MB. If anybody could store this in some pubicly accessible site, just give me the address where to send it and I´ll dispatch it in ZIPed or RARed form.

Best regards,

tom

Hello,

I also want to offer part of the space on my server for you if you need. I need to redesign some stuff to better manage how I use space on my site but I can create a ../alain and ../tom folders so that you can host anything you want there. Let me know how I can help.

Thanks Ismenio, but I don't have any space problem now that I have been upgraded to 1GB.

By the way Alain, how to you get to scan a manual in record time? I remember one day you saying that you were going to scan the Tasc one and the next day you had it online!

Well, there is a room in my home where we have five computer and an xbox... we spend a lot of time there (we never watch television) as this room is also very close to the children' bedrooms and is very often populated with children toys.
So I can do a scan without being isolated from my wife or children

Alain

For everybody else, please feel free to check Alain’s excellent site to see if he has it there first.

I'm sometimes in two minds about sending copies of manuals. Every month, one or two people approach me with requests for manuals. Some people write messages no longer than "I want a manual for my Chess Challenger Voice" and don't even acknowledge when they receive it.

I wonder if anybody has some spare space on the web. In that case we could put manuals there for people to pick up. If I had more space, I would put them on my own site, but my ISP has only given me 50MB, and I really have to shrink most pics to stamp-size to stay within these limits.

Or can I just send my files to Alain?

Best regards,

tom

Just a quick note for those visitors who requested copies of manuals. I want to apologize for not getting back to you yet. I’ve been so busy that I’m struggling to find time even to check this forum! But I’ll get the copies sent to you as soon as I can. If you don’t hear from me in a week or so please send me a reminder.

For everybody else, please feel free to check Alain’s excellent site to see if he has it there first. I usually send him copies of the ones I scan but lately it’s been easier for me to make hardcopies.

Best,

Ismenio
