Turbostar, Saitek Simultano,Fid excel 68000 B.In the past Super VIP, CXG Adv.Star[alot of fun it could checkmate with bishop and knight, key in openings in the program, change styles of play attacking, agressive,
normal, and defensive. This was the late eighties.] I like
the Star Diamond alot. Fid Designer  Mach 3 68000 was a favorite. I like them all.

Hi Lawrnce / All

I have the Diamond 2 which also has this feature 'termed 'PRO-OP Book' in the manual). Unfortunately, I have never been able to use the feature as all Programmable book options (including 'save', 'priorty' etc) require the Novag Distributor which I don't have.

I remember when I first bought the computer (from new) feeling disappointed by how many of the D2's functions required PC and Distributor!

Best wishes

Chris

I don't have a Star Diamond but I know that a few chess computers have this feature and I cannot see that there is anything to lose. One of the things I enjoy about chess computers is messing about with all the features. Getting them to work and understanding what they can do.

The Novag Super Constellation, which I do have, was the first chess computer with this feature. If you are, like me, keen on a particular opening (Kings Indian Attack) it can improve the chess computer as an opponent to program in additional lines.

Alain has a good Novag collection, including a Star Diamond. I wonder if he has used this feature?

All the best
Mike

Sorry Lawrnce, again I can’t help you here but would also be interested in knowing the answer so if you find out please share that with us!
By the way, how many computers do you have and which ones are your favorites?

gained ?
