Yes, and none of the 2 bidders has more than 4 feedbacks!

Ismenio,

this was a fake also! From those guys who bid on this machine one had only one positive ebay recommendation, and this exactly from the seller of the Bavaria.
And the second guy who bid on this machine didn´t use his ebay account for several years, so I suppose it is an old account (maybe of the seller himself).
I asked the seller whether he could guarantee that at least the board is ok, but his answer was very evading...

Beware of Bavaria!

Hi Paul,

That is good news! It ended without any bid.
Now Dick mentioned Clive notified eBay, so I wonder why they didn't take it down!
Interestingly, there wa a special on CNBC (I think) about eBay and tere was a segment about scammers!

Fortunately, with less than 10 min. to go, nobody bid on the Mephisto Lyon scam computer on eBay.

Well, that is a bit of a surprise.  I actually like the look of the black and green Fidelity Designer Mach IV.

However, that means that I now need to find one of these beasts for myself.

We have pictures of the 2325 on the thread below, including the "inflated" ELO certificate which reminds me I still need to send a copy of it to Mike!
I had to edit the original message as the pictures were not showing up (!?)

Yes, it seems to work fine with an adapter.  This one actually looks better to me than the dull brown color of the Designer Mach III that I have.  Do each of the various Designer series models have a different color?

Hm, the Designer 2000 is grey, the 2265 (Mach III) brown and I think the 2100 and 2325 (Mach IV) should be black (I'm not quite sure about the last two, because I don't own a 2100 and my 2325 is well hidden in a case! )

best regards,
Robert

Thanks Dick. Did you get the Designer to run on an A/C adapter?

Also, while we're at it, is it just me or are we not seeing as many offers for chess computers on eBay as we used to?

Based on the number of hits on my search and the brand/models listed it seems to me things are not what they used to be, even in offers from Germany!

I was just checking eBay today (Haven't done that in a while, good for my bank account!) and I found something interesting.

This I believe was a legit auction from April, this year and we can still access it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5181250841

Now how about these two? Look at the text!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5220117211

It really looks like a copycat of the Tasc scam or the same folks now trying to the trick with a different computer!

Ismenio

Yes, it is another scam.  I posted on CCC about this a couple of days ago, because the initial sale was from Clive Munro who is a regular at CCC.  Clive confirmed that this was, once again, someone trying to scam buyers using one of his prior sales.  The infamous Tasc scam, that has been repeated several times, was also originally an eBay auction by Clive.

He was shocked that, once again, his auction was chosen to be the basis of this obvious scam.  He notified eBay and they should be removing the sales soon.

By the way, Ismenio, the package arrived yesterday and I will send you the payment tomorrow.  Thanks again.
