Now was it Christian who told us about the Mountain Cases? Or perhaps a Clive Munro flight case smothered in foam is the right idea.

Yes, the Diablo is definitely worth his own case!

But I'm sure that you will find some companies in the UK, that build custom cases. Maybe even near your home? Would save much postage! I have found such a company for me!

I think you are right. This Diablo deserves a custom koffer. Now was it Christian who told us about the Mountain Cases? Or perhaps a Clive Munro flight case smothered in foam is the right idea.

With my new CCC Ego rating it is the Diablo which should be intimidated.

Mike, just think that soon you'll be holding it in your hands!
I'm sure you'll be pleased with it.

Maybe it's the name, but to me this is one computer that really intimidates you! When I turned it on I automatically had that feeling that not matter what settings I had it on, I was going to lose! It does inspire respect!

By the way, the PGM note is hand-written. Let us know if you ever find more information on it. The board is also a master piece and it's just a shame that we don't have the box for it. This is one that you may consider having a custom "koffer" buit for.

Congratulations my friend!

It brings tears to my eyes just to gaze on it. Thank you.

The Diablo was released in late 1991, so if it had a program upgrade MOD PGM 11-91 must have followed soon after the original. Eric Hallsworth at the time wondered whether the program released to the public was an improvement of those first tested, so perhaps that is the explanation? Maybe Robert or Hans know whether this is so?

Here's for your enjoyment, pictures of two chess computers that I have the privilege to have my
hands on. Unfortunately only one is mine I'm separating them on two posts just so I won't
overload one page with too many pictures.

First, the magnificent and rare Novag Diablo. I didn't have much time to play with it except for
a quick test and didn't go through the manual but it looks like it has quite a number of
features. Just looking at the keyboard you can tell this is quite a machine! The display shows up
complete moves (white and black's) and there's a key to flip the display so that it will show
different types of information. Interestingly, one of the things I liked most about it are the
pieces! Really nice to handle!

I will only get to keep it for a couple of days and it will be on its way to the Watters
Foundation for Preservation of Chess Computers.

Here's a piece of information that may mean something. There's a label on the bottom with a note
written saying "MOD PGM 11-91" and what appears to be a letter "M" which could be some sort of
initial I think. Does anyone have any clue as to what that may mean? An upgrade to the program
maybe?
