Thanks for that post Mike! I am ashamed to say that I keep forgetting to subscribe to Selective Search!

I enjoyed reading the interview with Kurt Kispert in one of the editions! That is a great source of information.

Actually, I just need to pick the right time to call and subscribe over the phone.
They do offer a page where you can subscribe to it but it is not a secure, encrypted site so I would rather do it over the phone.

And you forgot to give the link

Hi Chess Computeers

I wonder how many members and guests who visit this forum know of, or subscribe to, the English computer chess magazine "Selective Search"?

This months edition will be of interest to many chess computer collectors. There is a interesting and long article about collectors Manfred Vellmer and Karsten Bauermeister written by Rob Van Son under the title "Collecting Chess Computers: Passion or Madness"

In addition there is a good report of the 11th Gebruikers Tournament (Leiden) which included a <2000 Elo group and a "Turbo" group - Mephisto London 68030, Fidelity Elite Avant Garde V11, Tasc R40 and Resurrection. Plus a report of the Mickey Adams v Hydra match and a guide to getting Palm Hiarcs to work on a Pocket PC. Something I am going to have to try. As well as the usual news, ratings tables etc.

Whilst these days the magazine is mainly concerned with computer chess rather than dedicated chess computers there is usually something of interest on the dedicated front.

Eric Hallsworth has produced Selective Search, and its forerunner Chess Computer News Sheet, for 20 years now. Showing amazing enthusiasm and stamina along the way. In the next issue he promises an article on Resurrection (will he include any of my games  ),  an Excalibur Grandmaster versus 4 opponents match, Star Diamond v RISC 2500 match and lots more, room permitting.

Selective Search is definitely worth a look if you have an interest in this hobby.
