I'm new at your forum.
Let me introduce myself.
I'm 45 years old and i'm living in Belgium.
I'm in love with chess and cigars.
I try to learn chess since 30 years (cigar is easier... )
Long time ago, i've bougth a Chess Challenger from Fidelity. My first chess computer (it's dead now...)

Recently, i've purchased a Novag Universal Chessboard with Sapphire II (my first wooden chess computer...an old dream...). What do you think about it?

Your community is really very fascinating with all these informations about the chess computer's history.
Now the wish to find some phantom or mephisto is inside me (it's your fault...
Anyway thanks for that and...sorry for my bad english...

Carter

Hi Carter and welcome to the forum! I almost got a universal board recently and I really wanted it not just to plug into my Super VIP but also to play with CEBoard whenever I get my hands on a PocketPC.

Glad to hear you enjoy our posts and let us know when you get your Phantom

I've said this million of times before: I never get tired of it! Recently I took it to a local group of robotics enthusiasts and everyone was impressed and they even filmed it.

Best regards,

Ismenio

But what is the meaning of "humanstyle" for a chess computer?
It's an very interesting discussion...What is human or humanstyle in a computer?
In which way, Sapphire II or some other chess computer  can play or "think" or "react" like a human?
Well, i'm very curious to hear some reactions.

Normally computer are very material-oriented! They don't sacrifice pieces for offensive play!

Not so the Kittinger-programs! Sometimes they sacrifice pieces for attacking the king or for better position! It's not always correct, but that's the case too, when two humans play, isn't it?

This is, what Hans meant with "human style"...
