Thanks, everyone.  Based on Tom's wealth of knowledge, I just picked up a Tandy 1650 on ebay for $10.50.  The lid fit on my 1992 Travel Champion.  I appreciate the posts!

Heard back from Schach Niggemann:

We still have such a cover in stock. The price for the part is 10,00 Euro, shipping costs are 7,50 Euro for a surface letter.

My conversion estimate was around $21.  If the cover was missing or totally broken, I might spend that much - but replacing a crack isn't quite worth the $ to me.

Mike,

now you how things are in Germany
It is likewise with our cars...you can get verything you want - but beware of the price

So I agree with Tom - just wait until a second unit pops up, buy it and exchange the lids.

Mike,

As far as I know, the Travel Champion exists in at least two models:

- the Travel Champion 2080 (dating from 1992)
Two computers with similar lids are:
  http://overtom.nl/chescom/EngSciTrSens.html
  http://overtom.nl/chescom/EngTan1650.html

- the Travel Champion 2100 (dating from 1994)
    I've seen similar lids in:
    http://overtom.nl/chescom/EngMephSolSt.html
    http://overtom.nl/chescom/EngKasBult.html
    http://overtom.nl/chescom/EngKasCos.html

I think there are even more models with lids that you could use to replace yours. Maybe they come around for not too much money at eBay one day.

If you want to be absolutely sure that the lid of a certain computer fits on your specimen, don't hesitate to send me an email and I'll look whether the lids are interchangeable.

Best regards,

tom

Thanks again for the advice.

Saitek USA & Saitek UK did not have the part.

Never got a reply from elektroschach.

Hi Mike and welcome!!
I would try the sites Christian mentioned but something else you might want to try is contacting the different Saitek sites (USA, France, Germany) and ask each one of them!
That could work!

Best wishes!

I'm certainly enjoying this forum and the website.  Great stuff - thanks!

I've got a Saitek Kasparov Travel Champion (great machine).  The plastic lid for the unit is cracked (still fits snug enough, but you can see the crack in the lid).

I called Saitek and they don't have replacement lids for the unit.  Does anyone know where I could buy a replacement lid?

Thanks.

Mike Nelson

Mike,

I don't know for sure, but you could try

www.niggemann.com

or

www.elektroschach.de

These are german sites, but everybody over there understands English as well.
