You beat me to it, Ismenio!

Oh well, I really don't need anymore this week.  I just bought 3 on eBay in the last couple of days (and one more later today), and lost one other that I wanted.  That should be enough to satisfy me for a couple of days, anyway.

This is one of the real old chess computers. It was amongst the first touch sensories, produced in late 1980. On the box it says it is a Scisys but the manual is copyright of Novag Industries Ltd. Novag and Scisys occupied the same buildings in Hong Kong at the time. I never know whether to call the Chess Partner 2000 a Scisys or a Novag. Karsten B hedges his bets by putting one under Novag and two under Scisys/Saitek in his collection list.

Here is one :-

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1182&item=5170375536&rd=1

It is a pleasant enough machine to play. Note the quaint raised ridges between the squares. The touch sensory board works well. Adaptor only. Plastic pieces similar to a Sargon 2.5 in a compartment at the side. A red LED display and brown plastic reminiscent of a Novag Chess Champion Mark II.

This is a machine which seems to be neglected by collectors. I do not remember it featured on anyones website. I cannot find it on any Elo list, though it must be on one somewhere. There is no information in the manual either about the program, programmer or processor.

Yet it seemed to sell in fair numbers in the UK and Germany and comes up on Ebay quite often.

Further information would be happily received.
