I too have asked for a photo of the 400 Euro one but so far without a reply. Seller has 100% record but only about 40 feedbacks...my usual rule is no photo why ? = no bid. Yes it will probably make 1,000 Euros !.

I know the seller (kokosfliege) and normally he is very reliable!

Robert

Ah if i had known that Robert i may have had a bid after all !.

Bidding at the last moment yesterday was a dodgy undertaking as traffic on Ebay seemed to be so heavy that some bids made in the last 10-15 seconds did not get through. I missed two books for this reason. So if like me you are a last few seconds "sniper" I should snipe a bit earlier in the run-up to Christmas.

All the best
Mike

You are right there Mike, infact i nearly missed my E-bay bid on the phantom { 3 seconds remaining !}

Not so much money flew about on Ebay last night.

The Risc 2500 that brought two bids of 1000 Euros two weeks ago attracted only one bidder who secured it for 590 Euros this time :-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8729747267&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

If I was the seller I would be very upset with "mdcrna" (the guy who bought the Prestige for $2000+) if it was his fault for not going through with the first sale.

The other Risc 2500 without photos made 414 Euros :-

BTW anyone know the playing strength difference between the regular 512 ? version and the 2 Mb ?

I don't know the playing difference but I read many times that it was easy to add the missing memory (for a few tens of euros).

Hi All,

Yes i do want this model,

I agree that the other one is likely to be relisted due to buyer problems, i bet he's as sick as a parrot.

Christian

I have been keeping my eye on them both. As they come up only a few hours apart it will be interesting to see what happens.

Worth a Risc?

Mike,

there is another Risc 2500 at ebay.de with a starting bid of 400 Euros - so far no-one seems to be interested.
Maybe 400 is not enough...a starting bid of 1000 should do the job

I eventually asked for photos but, unfortunatedly, none seemed to be available.

Hi Mike,

Quote from: Mike Watters on December  2, 2005, 10:58AM

Apart from the high bidder ("mdcrna"), two other people ("musiquesducati" and "cwilsonc") bid higher in the first auction than the Buy-It-Now price that has now been set. So they were prepared to pay more then, but not take advantage now. Yet the starting bid mark has only been set 80 Euros lower than the Buy-It-Now.

may be they consider the auction risky because of the re-enlistment of the computer ?
but I would rather bet that the buyer was responsible for the failure of the first sale..

or may be they have satisfied they need to overpay  a computer ? (Musiquesducati won an Elite A/S for $1400 a few days later)

Best,
Alain

I see that the Risc 2500 2 Mb is back up for sale on E-bay, wonder if the other highly priced computers actually sold ?.

Old proverb: Beware of new users with high bids !.

Both the MB Phantom and Novag Expert have some feedback posted, so presumably those sales went through OK.

The Risc 2500 is an interesting case in Ebay psychology.

Yep i had these on my watch list too.......was quite interested in the Risc 2500 but not at that price !.

E-bay prices always confuse me.  My MB Phantom struggled to sell for UK 260 less than 2 weeks ago and now this goes for $1200, makes you just want to cry.

704 for a Novag Expert  !!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8721348028&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

$1200 for an MB Phantom  !!!

1000 Euros for a Risc 2500 2 Mb !!!!

I did manage to pick up a Chess Partner 3000 for 1.99 Euros.

Strange indeed...I wonder what my Diablo would bring in if people are ready to pay such a sum for an Expert...

Well I won't find out

You find the same names in the Risc and Super Expert auctions.
There is a Constellation Forte B for sale on ebay and the current leader participated to the Super Expert auction, as he is also a guy who bought once a Phantom 6100 for 940 Euros  you can expert the Forte B to reach crazy prices too (and in my opinion, it is already done).

I exchanged a few mails recently with a potential Forte B seller, I proposed him a price based on the previous sales of Novag computers and recent acquisitions of friends... he wanted more than I was ready to pay and I told him that we would not make a deal and he should go to ebay...
I am glad that he did not sell me his computer because he would think now that I swindled* him. OK, he probably thinks now that I tried to    (but I am clean).

By the way, once again Ismenio, you made a great drawing ! I'll keep this one

Best,
Alain

That is amazing!  I will hold on to my English MB Phantom very carefully now!
Wow! That makes it US$ 3,205 for all 3 computers!!! Any ideas as to why these prices?

Before I bid on my next one I want to read the book below, but I can't find it on Amazon.com
