Hi jbrunk

With the old Fidelitys some problems like this can be started by overheating. Sometimes it is the adaptor at fault. Getting the machine to reset can be a matter of just persisting with making and breaking the electrical connection.

The circuit boards of the Voice Sensory are prone to shift about which I have found can cause wires to loosen or break with power and speaker problems. If you have no luck with resetting the machine and the board is shifting about it may be worth taking a look inside for loose connections.

Hope you find the answer
Mike

I would be very curious to know if you get it working again.
I have a link to the tech manual for the Z80 processor ( www.zilog.com/docs/z80/um0080.pdf ) which I believe is the one used in the Voice Sensory, and I was wondering myself if one could reset it somehow.

I currently own a Voice Sensory Chess
Challenger that just for the first time "locked up" after many years of
functioning properly.  Do you have any idea why this is happening?  Do you
know anyone that could fix this?  The first time I plugged it in,  it
introduced itself, but it did not continue the entire greeting.  The second
time I plugged it in 4 of the lights flashed and no greeting came on.  I
believe that it is locked up similar to a PC, where on a PC one would hit
ctrl+alt+delete.  Where can I get some technical help since we can no
longer find the Fidelity Company?

Any help you could give will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Jbrunk
