Hi Robert,

I never beat him when he was young but i am probably only a couple of years older than him anyway. In the simultaneous display i got a draw but i remember i played a terrible opening { caro-kann advanced} and thought it would be over quickly. I still have the scoresheet somewhere so i might bore you all with the game one day !.

Ian.

Of course, i understand your thoughts!

Take some time and maybe later this year it will be easier for you to let it out of your hands!

Thank you for the games!

I too would like a Mephisto Nigel Short but you very rarely see them for sale.

I seem to remember there was one listed on E-bay last year and it made good money { UKŁ160/170 ?}.

Slightly off subject i have actually played the real Nigel Short, as he used to play for Bolton chess club in the Manchester league in England when he was a youngster. Then later when he was about number 3 in the world just behind the two K's i played him in a simultaneous match with 18 other mortals and a computer { sadly i cannot remember which computer }.

Happy days !.

Ian.

Hallo Robert

I do not have one of these, but I think I know who does. Mephisto Nigel Short stuff has appeared on Alain's website recently.

Talking of excellent websites does anybody know what has happened to Willi Hahn's website?

http://www.alte-schachcomputer.de

Is it really the end this time.

Best regards
Mike

I really hope not Mike! We need more sites to pop up, not to be shut down!!!

By the way, a while ago I found a link to a .UK site that had in the summary words like "chess computers" and "collectors"!! The site was unavailable at the time and I didn't bookmark the link. I remember it was a site I had never seen before but now I can't find it!

I sometimes try different search engines (clusty, previewseek, alltheweb) and I know I didn't find the link on Google (at least it didn't show up on the first few pages), so I can't remember which one that was.

I now wonder if the site was shut down and now it's no longer indexed Does that ring a bell?

He he

Robert,

I think that even a Milano + 30 remains below the Polgar @ 10 MHz, no ?

Of course, you're right! I always forget this 10 MHz Polgar!

And when both would run at the same speed?

But i agree to you: when a device comes with this high speed directly from the manufacturer (and not from a private tuner) then this should be the legal 8bit-king!

Quote:

Anyway, I think I'll play a few games between the Super Expert C and the Nigel Short in the next days.

That would be very interesting!

But nevertheless:
Would you mind, to lend it to me for a few days? (maybe in a few weeks, when your testing is over)

Of course i would take all the costs (and a little more!;))

that would be great!

thank you in advance,

Robert,

I think that even a Milano + 30 remains below the Polgar @ 10 MHz, no ?

Anyway, I think I'll play a few games between the Super Expert C and the Nigel Short in the next days.

Best,

Alain

Hallo Robert

I do not have one of these, but I think I know who does. Mephisto Nigel Short stuff has appeared on Alain's website recently.

Talking of excellent websites does anybody know what has happened to Willi Hahn's website?

http://www.alte-schachcomputer.de

Is it really the end this time.

Best regards
Mike

I would be interested in testing such a device! If it is really 30-40 points better than a Milano, then this could be the best 8-bit-chesscomputer!

Or if anybody wants to sell one...

thank you,
