Hi Mike / Robert / All,

Congratulations this makes a nice surprise (almost as good as my extra CC1 pieces!  ) and certainly not evident from the listing!

Yes I can confirm it has arrived and is in mint condition!  - no explanation for why it took so long or the protacted route followed!  - thanks Ismenio!

Best wishes

Really a good deal, Mike! Even the additional Sargon is worth much more than 25$!

PS: Regarding the delivery, I think Chris may be holding the current record The Excellence I sent him finally arrived, after over 8 weeks!!! And it was sent via air!

Wow! Congratulations Mike! $25????
You can double your investment right now: I offer you $50 for them, cash!

That certainly deserves an entry for the deal of the year 2006! Let's see who else gets something like until before year end

I still remember a $99 working Phantom sold via buy-it-now almost two years ago when I was playing with the search features of eBay. The auction had ended of course

What a great deal Mike !,  i am sure this puts you in contention for the ' bargain of the year ' award and it's still only January.

Infact i bet you would get your money back just putting that Fischer slidey thing on E-bay.

Hi All

Buying on Ebay can be a bit of a lottery. Sometimes the chess computers which arrive are a disappointment. There are the "Mint" machines that turn out to be average. The "fully working" ones which have LEDs that don't light and switches that don't switch.

Just occasionally, though, you can get a pleasant surprise. I had one today.

Back in November in a rush and on impulse I bought a bundle for $25 Buy-It-Now.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8727447266&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Before buying I looked at the photos just long enough to see that the CC3 was not a CC1. So I thought I was buying a Tryom (possibly a CC-700), a CC3, a CC7 and a backgammon game. Only later when I looked at the photos properly did I realise that the Tryom was a backgammon game and there appeared to be only three machines total. At worst I was resigned to just salvaging some parts from the CC3 and CC7.

Well the parcel arrived today having been sent on 1st December. That's 6 weeks 6 days Ismenio. Not quite a record.

Opening the parcel the first thing I noticed was a surprise addition, a MGS Sargon 2.5; and a very good one at that. The CC3 and CC7 are also fully working, with adaptors and manuals. No CC3 pieces though Chris  . The backgammon game also has the Tryom power supply that works with the CC-700.

In addition there is a Fischer-Spassky slider gadget that has all the moves from the Reykjavik match. A nice piece of memorabilia if not very practical.

Best of all for this fan of the Oldies, though, is the Computer Chess Digest Annual 1983. This was the first volume produced and is 100+ pages packed with interesting stuff from the Golden Age of Chess Computers. It includes reviews and previews of all top machines from 1982/83 and short articles from Thomas Nitsche and Kathe Spracklen.

This is the bundle :-

Hopefully I haven't used up my luck for 2006.

Happy chess computer collecting regards
Mike
