Hi Robert,

Thanks for your reply.

According to Mephisto catalogues the correct adaptor for say Lyon/ Vancouver is the HGN 5004, then it says 5007 for UK, 5504 for US and 5009 for Aus.

So i am sure i have the correct one as my Lyon was a UK bought computer and came with the 5007.

However i do agree with you that it should only work with 9v so maybe it is just a printing mistake on the adaptor ?. The only way i guess would be to get the output voltage electrically tested.

Ian.

Hi Ian,

According to the instruction manuals the correct mains adaptor for say the Lyon module is HGN 5004A which is the 2 pin European version and has 8V output, however

Hm, should be 9V with 600/680mAh (i know of these two versions), but maybe this makes no difference.

Quote:

i noticed that my UK equivalent 3 pin adaptor HGN 5007A has only 5v output.

I have never heard of a HGN 5007. Is this maybe a special UK-version? (Google has no results for this, but many for HGN 5004)

But why does it have 5V?

The only Mephisto adaptor with 5 V, that i know, is the HGN 5050 (for Risc I/II and the Saitek Risc 2500)

Both adaptors do work the module ok but if i needed to get a replacement what rating should i get or does it not really make any difference ?.

They both work??? That's astonishing!

Normally all Lang modules need 9 V; only the Risc modules (by Ed Schröder) need 5 V (IIRC they have no voltage regulator, you can damage them with 9V!!)

I don't think, that a normal Lang module should work with 5 V! (mine quit even with 7,5 V!)

Are you using an adaptor module?

best regards,
Robert

Hopefully an electronically minded person can answer this.

Thanks
