Do you know if the Mach III gold and silver letters have any significance?

i would say, Fidelity simply ran out of golden paint!

It seems that this is only a cosmetic difference, altough my Golden Mach III does not accept batteries. Here is a page with pictures of both of them, including the "inside":

When I opened my first Mach III (which has problems with its display), I was impressed by the additional wires and was wondering if it could be an home made upgrade, but the other Mach III is not really different

I have another example of cosmetic difference between two computers of the same model : the Par Excellence

best,

All the very best with the new arrival, when he/she arrives.

As you know on our tiny island we barely get enough snow for a short snowball fight. For now the Gulf Stream makes us ski indoors.

Hi Alain, Chris, Ismenio!

Thankx for all the answers! The seller of the Mach III wants 400 Canadian Dollars which is way too much, but I wanted just to be sure...

Hi Mike,

familiy is fine. We have been busy lately preparing the room for the baby which is about to come (ETA 6th february)...this explains my low chess forum activity

The canadian winter is less worse than the German winter if I can believe the newspapers...so fare nobody froze to death here, and buildings don't collapse either.

And some 2 meters of snow passes here as an average amount...and if the weather forecast announces 10cm of snow it passes as 'faible neige'

Are you too freezing on your island?

Hello,

I can add three auctions to Mike's list :
1) http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8719784399 : 89 Euros !!!

2) bought by 'alainza', 23/05/2005, 220 Euros for a supposed very good shape Mach III which was in fact a wreck, sold by a well known german seller (too bad, because he has other interesting computers). No box.

3) bought by 'alainza', 08/08/2004, 152 Euros for a very good shape Mach III (box included).

Interesting : one has a golden "Fidelity Electronics", the other one has silver letters.

Best,
Alain

Christian

I have records of only two Ebay auctions for Fidelity Excel Mach IIIs :-

03/04/2004  275 Euros bought by Karsten B
01/05/2005  152 Euros bought by Steffen

both with Netzteil, Figurensatz und Bedienungsanleitung. OVP nicht.

Hope you and the family are well. How is the Canadian winter?

Best regards
Mike

Hi Christian

The last Mach 3  I can remember was last November whihc went for $108.50  (I remember because I asked the seller to confirm if it was a 6098) - funny the bidding shot up after seller confirmed it was!

Best wishes

Hi Christian,

I can search my records at home to see if I have any reference of an Fidelity Excel mach III but I doubt. Alain may have something from eBay though.

But I'm starting to question the validity of using eBay as a source of reference for prices based on some crazy auctions

Hi All,

I have recently been offered a Fidelity Excel Mach III. I am not very familiar with the Fidelity machines (never had one). How much could this device probably be worth (including box, manual)?

Thanx

Christian
