I do not know anything about these Novag PC boards. What exactly is it? How does it function with a PC?

this auction offers a board even Steve Blincoe or Stefan Ottow do not know

It looks like a Novag Universal Chessboard but :
1) it as this "unfinished" (in my opinion) display on the side
2) and it does not have leds between the squared (the UCB is like the SB30 and has 81 leds)

So it is probably a prototype ?
On the other hand, it seems that Novag spanish subsidiary was more active than the others (I have no proof of that, it is an impression given by their site) and may be they tried this "Limited Edition" there ?

For the PC Connection: the UCB can be linked to a PC (or Pocket PC with CEBoard  ) with a serial cable. Old PC programs were able to handle it like a DGT today (but the UCB does not recognize pieces) and there are drivers for winboard.

My Spanish translation is not so good.

Yes this one is a puzzle. I thought that it might be a very early or modified ESB. There is no sign of an Excalibur plaque having been there or the Mephisto logo. The board is different and there is a strange drawer handle and partition removed is another oddity.

The card connecting to the Brickett has DH5000 on it with a possible date code of 22nd week of 1982? The first ESBs came out in April 1982 and there were problems with compatibility which may have led to modifications. I bought an early one, and it was incompatible with III. H & G wrote to me about sending it back to Germany for modification.

Really though I don't know as I haven't seen anything like it.

All the best

Hallo,
bei dem " EXCALIBUR " auf Ebay handelt es sich vermutlich um ein ESB II Geraet,
welches aber nicht mehr komplett ist !!!

So sieht ein komplettes Geraet aus.

Hi.

Could this truly be an Excalibur?

No, a real Mephisto Excalibur has a plaque under d1/e1.

But nevertheless, it seems to be a nice board! Looks different from a normal ESB6000/Excalibur (compared with the one on Kurt Kispert site)
