Ismenio I have found the Conchess manual and on the front it says :-

Escorter
Ambassador
Monarch

So one manual serves them all.

I will make you the best copy my good old HP printer can manage and it will be on the way to Cedar Ave tomorrow.

Best regards
Mike

Sir Watters,

I will happily accept your offer for the Monarch manual!
Please let me know the total costs and I'd be extra happy if you could waive your copying fees!

Best,

Ismenio

Plus, I need a good copy of the manual and would buy it even for that!

Anyway, though they don't appear on eBay quite as often as other models, if you're patient you'll get one! A while ago I think I saw someone from the US selling one. And you're right, shipping is quite expensive both from UK to here and vice versa.

Here's a friendly warning: if you see that the unit has an extra module or a a non-standard one be prepared to pay big bucks for it! A unit that would sell for, let's say around $200 fetched something like $700 just because it had that extra module!

Ismenio you are more than welcome to a copy of the Monarch manual if you want one. I think that it is highly likely that the only significant difference between the Monarch and Ambassador is the size of board. As the programs are the same and the board layout is I believe the same.

Shall I send a copy?

Best regards

Hi Dick.

Yes, my Conchess is working great and I really like it. I actually like the auto-sensory response on that one better than my Mephisto, even though the Mephisto is more beautiful and a better machine. But I don't quite like the operation of the many buttons on the side of the board. I got mine from UK and had to get an adapter and also change the plug. I am guessing that the 5 pin plug on the Monarch follows the same pattern of the Ambassador and if that's true I may be able to help you with that (you have to beat me on that auction first, which won't be hard

I wanted the Monarch mostly because it is tournament size. If you know someone who lives in the Netherlands you can try to get that one from the TradeMe site I posted the other day! The guy couldn't quite tell if it was working but you can't beat that price!!! Plus, I need a good copy of the manual and would buy it even for that!

Ambassador machine.  Is it operational?  Does it require some special transformer to get power to the board?

I am mainly curious, because of the Monarch that is on eBay at the moment.  I probably will not bid on it, since it will cost a lot to ship it here from England.  However, since the seller doesn't have the power supply, and mentioned some 5-pin DIN like connection, I was wondering just what these computers required.

Many of the chess machines for sale are missing various accessories, like the power adapter, manual, a piece or two, etc., and I suspect it could run the gamut of very easy to replace, to almost impossible.

This is a brand that I don't see very often, in my long history of watching the Internet for bargains.

Thanks,
