Hopefully you'll get to see some live action? - We got the Super Bowl live - although given the time zones I could only watch the first half.    BTW - forgot to congratulate you on the Steelers success    - I'm a Dolphins fan but have had nothing to cheer since Marino retired!

Is there something good on C4 that I am missing?

So this is how!  - even after several years I am no expert - thanks for the tip!

Yes indeed! - I think the weight of expectation puts unnecessary additional pressure.

Greetings Jose,

I see what you mean now. I didn't create the frappr site, only the chesscomputers map there. And as you noticed, they have maps for all kinds of communities.
I apologize for the confusion.

@ ismenio - your idea and page is very excellent. But the homepage is not only for chess collectors, or? There are many other things. Are these from you, too?

Many Greetings José

Hi Ismenio,
great! Now i can see some of the lot chesscomputer-Fans. Who create this website?

Greetings José

Hello Jose,

I started that map because from my early days of collecting I was wondering if there were other people with the same interest out there. At the time I couldn't find much information on the web (in English that is) and it wasn't until I came across CCC that I started to notice that, yes, there were other crazy people out there

Now we have 30 friends there... make that 31 as I write this

It is also a great place to share pictures. Sadly, I haven't had time to upload many but it's nice that we can have all in one place.

Regards,

Ismenio

Thanks for the Maplin reed switch offer. They do special orders so you can get most things in their catalogue in a few days.

As for Leeds Utd FC do I sense the Ridsdale era too recent in the memory? If any club gets a chance they should take it IMHO. Look at Wigan and West Ham.

Hi Jose

Thanks for this!

If only.... I'm afraid nothing remotely robotic (chess or otherwise) in my household

Ismenio has already answered here - I will have to add myself to the map. Actually, I did live in Germany (Bad Homburg) for a year when I was a child (aged about 5 or 6), but unfortunately have not been back in a long time

However, I do need to brush up my German for all your excellent auctions!

No, not yet, but it is tempting when an auction finishes in the middle of the night or when you are nowhere near a PC. I like to know what is happening in an auction, and believe it or not, I try to avoid bidding against regular posters here. Well, if I know who they are.

How about you?

I must say I thought you did - your timing seems to be excellent!

I don't bid that much, so generally it is the trusty 'refresh' button for me also. If there is something I really want or especially for US auctions I will use an automated bidder. I'm wary of recommending/suggesting anything after my experience in the recent programming thread    - but I use justsnipe.com which I have found to be good. Of course it all depends on how much one is prepared to bid!

I do!    but I would not wish to influence your decision about what you wanted to bid on. If you win its because you want it more than me  ..... either that or you have a more understanding other half!

Quote:

I was at the game ten days ago when we put out a team of complete strangers against you.  Nevertheless you moved the ball, and used the flanks, well I thought. It should not be long before you get back to where you should belong.  The play-offs are the best route. Great fun.

Thanks, notwithstanding the good result last night (for Leeds if not QPR!), you have more faith than I do! As we know those who reach the promised land often find it is an unforgiving place, so I'm not overly optimistic!

'will-o'-the-wisp' regards

Hi Jose,

Yes, both Chris and Mike live in beautiful England and are part of the British invasion here in this forum

By the way, you can actually see 30 of the chess computer friends on a world map here: http://www.frappr.com/chesscomputers
You can zoom in, see a satellite view of the countries, etc.
I know Mike is there but I'm not sure about Chris.

I've got sniping down to a fine art except when I get it wrong. Continuing my Chess Partner 3000 jinx yesterday I was watching another one stuck on the princely sum of 1.99 Euros when boredom sent be to the kitchen to do the washing up. No problem in 4 minutes 38 seconds, or so I thought.  Anyway I got back to the PC in what I imagined was plenty of time only to see 5 seconds left when I refreshed the screen. I must have missed it by one or two seconds.

Of course it has only an outside chance of working properly, even after any repairs that are necessary. Still, with two others in the cupboard it will come in handy for spare parts.

Hmm, I'm not sure whether you jest here!    - It goes without saying that I hope you can get the arm of this wonderful beast flailing properly - please give us a full report!

I do not recommend 4am eBay bidding though, particularly when the postman wakes you up first thing.

You stayed up till 4am!  - congratulations twofold for dedication! - but I don't understand as  I know (unfortunately from personal experience)  that you are a top ebay sniper

Yes, congratulations indeed! I knew about that auction as a visitor sent me the link but I wasn't really watching it (so much to do, so little time )

I hope you'll get it to work 100% Mike and of course, you must share pictures and details with us!

Regards,

Ismenio

PS: I've lost the tally! How many Novag Robots have we seen so far? (sold on eBay + private that we know about)
