Thank you Olivier. It is a true chess computer enthusiast who takes pride in restoring the Old Beauties back to perfect working condition.

I was trying to encourage this enthusiasm in others but there is only so much we can do.

Double the dosage regards
Mike

MMMMMiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike

Don't listen them!
I'm sure we are not alone !!!
We have the truth!!!
They don't understand ...
Oh, yes, it's good to be the king...
when I take my solder iron
...
...
...
For a revival of chess's computer.  We are first doctors of this first new generation.
And if they collapse all , like the terrible destiny of my little brother, Savant, emulation can save us, I'm sure.

Mychess.

Well thanks for the encouragement.  ......

Jose I am afraid you are right. Though I do occasionally post a thread about firmly closed working chess computers. Usually the threads have a heading like "Wood", "More Wood", "Yet More Wood"........well you get the pattern.

Christian if I asked my wife what she thought I would probably not get an answer I was looking for. So I don't. She does not really seem to mind. Maybe it is the thought that it keeps me occupied near sharp implements and high voltages that appeals to her.

Hopefully I have a German language manual coming from Novag and the Robot patents are full of info. However if you can get your hands on that circuit diagram and send me a copy I would be very grateful. I might even learn how to read one someday.

Electronics patzer regards
Mike

Mike what does you wife think about all this?
And your doctor? Did he recommend disembowelling chess computers as a therapy against collecting
Anyway once you have torn apart your Robot do not hesitate to let us know...
By the way I found a Canadian collector who apparently has got hold of a circuit plan of the Novag machine...
Could be of interest for all those who got a non-working one...

I think Mike, you have big problem
You can´t sleep as all computers are open and disjointed. You get a higher pulse if you apply the screwdriver under the skin of the battlefield

I pray for you

Greetings José

Did you ever posted a not open computer

Hi All

I thought I would follow up on Alain's idea for a Chess Computers Openings Book.

Chapter 1 - Unsuccessful Openings

1. Destiny Mini Master outFlanked Defence

This is a simple opening. I got the idea from Mr. D. O. Arrival. After initial optimism this opening leads absolutely nowhere.

2. Monte Carlo Gamble Accepted

The point of this opening is a strong attack on f7. Early results showed promise. Unfortunately the Gamble was refuted by Leds flashing all over the board. Further study of this opening is needed.

3. Frenzied Dutch Attack

No book would be complete without this one. Also known as Over Tom's Dead Body.

Do you have some favourite openings you can share with us?

All the best
Mike
