Only $9.95 ?!!!!

If it works then you need to know I officially hate you!!! LOL

I owned a TS432 when they first came out and played it in a small tournament with two of my friends and their machines (all of us class A USCF players - one who owned a SuperConnie and the other who owned a Mephisto MMII) and have been trying to pick up all three machines since then.

Yes, I understand how you feel!  I missed out on a brand new one a little while back, and that certainly didn't feel very good...  The unit I received has a small bubble ridge along the first row, so I am wondering if it is worth disassembling to see if it can be tucked under a little.  Perhaps best to leave it, but if you know otherwise, I might give it a go!

The Super Constellation was not a bad machine at all, and for its time, it played very well from memory.  I also saw the Turbostar playing in a tournament in Canberra (Australia) when it first came out, and it drew with a 1750 rated player, who got quite upset with the operator when the game fizzled out to a draw, and the operater refused to recognise it...  He got sick of piece shuffling after a while, and realised that there was no more play left.

Nice playing style though (Turbostar), and not a bad program from Julio Kaplan.

Regards

Yes, you read correctly!  $US9.95, which I though an absolute bargain..

not bad, but Dick Schneiders is still unbeaten...

Hi fellow enthusiasts!

Well, I finally got my hands on a Scisys Turbostar 432, unfortunately without the KSO module, but nevermind.  It only took me over twenty years!  I should have bought one when they came out, but the price was a bit much for me then.

Still, better late than never.  It is off Ebay, so I guess buyer beware, but I have had pretty good luck with all my Ebay purchases, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.  Item cost me $US9.99 with a bit extra for postage, which I thought quite ok.

all the best

Simon

Did I read correctly? Only nine dollars and ninety-nine cents for this computer? Then you managed to get a real bargain! As you see, you were highly rewarded for waiting so long. Enjoy your nice chess computer!

Hi all,

I was hoping to find a Scisys Turbostar 432 in good to excellent condition to add to my little collection.  I always regretted not buying one back in the 80s, so I would like to maybe get hold of one.  I do have some computer units that I could use as a trade, so let me know!

I have checked Ebay on and off, but they are few and far between.

Thanks, and all the best

Simon

Hi Simon

There was this one on ebay a few days ago :-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SCISYS-TURBOSTAR-432-KASPAROV-CHESS-COMPUTER_W0QQitemZ8771513277QQcategoryZ2554QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I paid 50 Euros for mine a couple of years back. So that is the sort of price they are going for.  As you say there are not that many about, say one every month or two. If you set up an Ebay search you should net one.

Good luck with the hunt
