That's torture Mike! That one is on the very top of my list but I didn't put there for two reasons: 1 - that pending order I have with a great collector and 2-even if someone saw that and were to offer me one, I couldn't afford it now

I'll keep dreaming until I can think about the remote possibility of coming close to ever considering having enough to buy one

Ismenio

May be you will be as lucky as me : I planned to wait for a big event to buy one (either to be 2000 Elo (will never arrive) or to reach my 40th birthday) and two weeks ago, another collector (who already had a Tasc) gave me the coordinates of a seller :
1) an hour drive from home => I have been able to see the Tasc before buying it, and there was no shipping hazard
2) and a very attractive price (Steveb says "incredible")
And that's it... a miracle !

Ah there is nothing quite like a Tasc. The silky smooth piece recognition, the menu with the masses of info and settings, the press button chess clocks, the WOOD, the LCD chess board with the tiny pieces, the coiled connector cable, the velvet bags that the pieces go in, the way it thrashes you every time. Class.

Mike

Dang it, now I want one of these, too!  I suppose the possibility of picking one up for $15 on a Buy It Now on eBay is remote, right?

Are they ever for sale anywhere in the public forums?

Remote would be a fair description. One lives in hope.

A Tasc R30 will come up on Ebay every now and again. In the last year I think there have been seven, all in Germany(5) or the UK. The prices ranged from $1500 to $3000. Clive Munro got $2300 for his. Unless I missed it on Ebay Alain got his elsewhere. Just occasionally one may be offered on Kurts forum.

I bought one in 1993 for 1195 (795 plus my beautiful Novag Super Expert ) And thanks to Ruud Martin I upgraded it with v2.5 Eproms recently. It had one or two knocks, only minor cosmetic really, but I wanted a mint one so bought one off Ebay for 1121 Euros back in January. The duplicate, now back to a v2.2, will be sold or swapped eventually as I do not need two. Someone has mentioned an interest in it , and they have first refusal, of course. Something tells me that are really more interested in a certain robotic machine that yells at you. And who could blame them. Well not you or me anyway.

As it is the Tasc R30 being the strongest (apart from specials) with also the best features, is still the object of desire in the chess computer fraternity.

Oh the desire........

Taken to Tasc

Beautiful! Congratulations again. That's my dream computer! I hope to get one, one day. I may have a chance to get one from a very kind gentleman but I need to work for it first! I'm running out of control with my budget

Looking forward to see the manual there and also the pictures. Even though we have others on the web, they won't be from your unit

Best regards,

Hi Ismenio,
yes, I bought yesterday a Tasc R30 in perfect shape... now I'm a real collector ;-)
The User's manual shoud be on my site this week (as well as photos, but tasc's photos are easy to find on the web).
Best,
Alain

Hi Alain,

Did I get it right? Are you getting a Tasc? If so, congratulations in advance and please let me know when you have it up on your site!

Best regards,

Ismenio
