OK Dick, I'll check on buying an extra set of the Novag pieces. I'll keep you posted.

Best,

Dick,

This will break my heart but I will send you the pieces from my current Phantom 6100 when I receive the one from eBay. However, I had decided to give you that as a gift before I saw your post so I cannot accept your generous offer. You can keep your original package.

The reason why I asked you about the Novag pieces is that I believe I may be able to order them from Novag so I can use them in my current 6100, it won't be original and it won't work as good but it's also breaking my heart that you don't have them

The only thing is that I don't have the crowns for this set. This is truly a barebone system with only the computer, pieces, AC adaptor and the manual.

I'll let you know when the green Phantom arrives.

Best,

Ismenio,

I don't know what to say.  This is much, much too generous of you.  While I certainly could use some original Phantom pieces, most of my comments about them have been in jest, to simply have some fun.  As you can tell, I like to joke around a bit.  However, at the same time I thought I could get some feelers out there so that somebody might see it and have an extra set they would sell me.

Since I am such a newbie at this stuff, I didn't realize that it would be possible to acquire a set of Novag pieces.  They do work fine, and if you slightly adjust the pawns in front of the knights, their opening move isn't a problem.  If you are able to find a source for these, I could certainly get another set of them and use them for my 6100.

At least, please let me pay for the set of Novag pieces you get.  As we have discussed before, there will always be partial sets that we all acquire, and will probably never complete.  It is simply part of this activity of collecting these things.  It is good to be able to find substitutes for this stuff, and the Novag pieces are a good one for the Phantoms.  They do look better, by far, in my estimation, but they will forever be non-original.

Before you do this, let's be certain that the Novag pieces are available, and how much they cost.

Certainly I appreciate greatly your wanting to give me a gift, but it somehow doesn't seem quite fair to the others on this board.  You will run out of Phantom pieces, and everything else, if you start doing this.

Since you seem to want to have complete sets of your computers, including the packing materials, how about this.

You send me your extra set of Phantom pieces, and I'll send you the box, two pieces of original styrofoam packing that fit perfectly, all of the various paper inserts and instructions, and even the original cellophane bag (!), for your Fidelity Mini computer.  I'll bet you don't have all of this material.

I know, it seems like too much to trade all of this for a set of chess pieces from a computer that is only partial, but I'm feeling generous today.

Should I ship it off today?
