José

It is your lucky day!
Your question happens to coincide with the launching of this wonderful new website.

http://www.pinpoint1.f2s.com/html/timeline.html

You will see that all three Milton Bradley robots - Milton, Grandmaster and Phantom were released in 1983. The Fidelity Phantom came out in 1988 and the others later.

All the best

Their are many "Phantom´s" with many version´s circulating in world. Can i see anywhere a listing of ALL "Phantom´s". All Fidelity´s, Exaclibur´s, MB´s, HG´s, all version Numbers, all differenc etc?
I think not, or?

Do you know this link? http://www.schachcomputer.at/schachroboter.htm

It won't answer all your questions, but maybe it helps a little bit!

You're absolutely right Jose. I, of course, forgot about the Mephisto Phantom.

http://www.schachcomputer.at/schachroboter.htm

From Kurt's site:

I also think that they didn't change anything on this model after they took over Fidelity.

Hello Ismenio,

thanks for your excellent explains!
I think like you - the only way to learn is to do!

Was the MB the first "Phantom" or is he just a clone?

Mephisto also has produced a Computer like Phantom, i remember...

Greets a lot :-)

Hi Jose,

I think that is a very low number. I have wondered about how many were produced but I never found the answer. This is just my opinion that it probably wouldn’t make sense for MB to only produce 300 of them, given the cost to produce a unit like that. Just to create the mold for the optional dust cover would have cost some money, as I have found when trying to clone them today. Again, just my opinion. If you anything, please share with us.

What I do know is that the Milton Bradley  released it with different names in different countries and that the English version is the rarest because of the number of units produced which I have heard was less than the others:

- Grandmaster (in the US)
- Milton (in Germany)
- Phantom (in UK)

As for the Fidelity Phantom, here are the models:

- Phantom 6100 (I think the most common – I’ve seen the yellow and the green models)
- Phantom 6124 (had voice feature – rare because of number of units produced)
- Phantom 6126 (had voice and a motion sensor plus simulated eyes (LEDs) )

As always, please anyone feel free to correct me. That’s the only way I can learn about this

Best regards,

Ismenio
