Well, it's almost Friday as I post this and you have voted
So I changed it back to the old format. If I make any changes in the future I'll do it a little different and find a way for the members to participate on it.

Thanks for voting and for all your comments!

And Christian, whenever you want to list the stupid posts, just click on [Search], enter "ismenio", and there you have it

Best regards,

Ismenio

Hello Ismenio,

What disturbs me a little bit: When you have only one posting in a thread, there is no wasted space. But that's different with >2 postings; when you have to scroll down, the space on the left is blank and wasted!

Robert

Robert,

Ismenio can always put the most stupid post of the day at the left side for entertainment

Ismenio,

I like the new forum layout, especially the chess news. But they schould really be news
Par example the Mtel Masters has now finished round five (as I write this post), but the news are from round three.
I too agree with the proposal that the two frames only  should appear at the main page, but not in the postings.

Personally, I wish the two frames would stay only in the main page but not when you're looking at the posts

Yes, that would be better!

Maybe move the frames to the horizontal?

You mean above or below the messages? yes, i think, that would be a good solution!

Ismenio,

Of course, I'm happy visitors can click on links to other excellent chess computer sites.

But I must confess I voted in favour of the old lay-out. The reason: on my computer, the new lay-out often does not leave enough space for regular messages, so if I want to read them I have to move them to the left with a scrollbar.

Best regards,

tom

Thanks for the feedback Mike and Bryan. Your points are well taken. As I post this we are pretty much divided! I hope to get a good majority in either way

I don't know what I will do if we end in a tie (draw ) Any ideas?

Personally, I wish the two frames would stay only in the main page but not when you're looking at the posts because you have less real estate to display pictures but there's no way around that. Maybe move the frames to the horizontal?
I don't want it to get too crowded.

Well, we'll see what the users want

Ismenio

I personally don't think that we need the 'Chess News' column. Maybe if it was a 'Computer Chess News' column that would be different.
Keep up the good work.

Hi Ismenio

When I first saw the new layout I was not too keen, but I have got used to it already. So I have voted in favour of keeping it. Close vote at the moment.

When I get back to the new computer it should be even better if you can implement Alain's idea. Sadly the new computer died on me and had to go back to the manufacturers again. They changed the motherboard and wiped the hard disk so my email and everything is in a complete mess at the moment.

Hey, it's pretty crowded in this diving suit.

Michael Ballack regards (football joke )

Thanks for the feedback Alain. I'll see if I can fix that.

I will let the users decide on the format. I will wait for the final tally. The majority wins. Polls close on Friday so everyone should have a chance to vote.

Hi Ismenio,

just a small thing to improve : the content of the left boxes does not adapt to the box width. It seems to be hardcoded for a 1024 pixels width :

but on my laptop which has a 1450x1050 resolution, the result gives a "waste of pixels" impression :

OK, this is not really important, I like the idea (I have myself started last week to add a "links" box in all pages I have updated in my site  )

Best regards,
Alain

Folks, let me know, by voting, if you want to keep this new layout. Though guest/visitors can’t vote, you can still post comments.

For the links section, I went over the list of members and tried to list everyone who had a website in their profile. I tried to list in alphabetical order by login name (+/-). Let me know if I missed someone or if there are any corrections that need made.

Remember that this is a community oriented forum, the members are the ones in the diving sit

Thanks,

Ismenio
