Hi Alain

Congratulations for the thought and execution of the Paris tourney. It has been great to read and see the results (pity. Mach 3 didn't win!). Hopefully you will repeat again!  - My Boris and I are ready for any UK based challengers!

Thanks again.

Best wishes

Chris

PS - I haven't forgotten I still owe you a manual, been busy but will do this shortly!

Yes! Congratulations again Alain. And, my favorite of all pictures:

Not sure why yet, but I feel like I can so relate to that

Let us when the next tournament is!

Hi Robert,

or is it a class-room?

a room in the town hall of the village of Saints, where Patrick lives.

It was in fact a really pleasant room, very clear and fresh, which was great given the weather here these days.

Hi Jose,

you guessed right

I will add legends to the pictures, but did not have time yesterday. Anyway, I knew that the computers would help identify the players.

For people who don't know, Olivier is know here under the MyChess name.

He brought his Savant with him but I forgot the take my novag printer and we have therefore been unable to play with it at lunch time (anyway, we were a bit short of time because of a few lasting games).

In the next few days, I'll try to analyze the Nigel Short's games and see how the Milano and Polgar play in the few decisive situations.

Best regards,

Alain

Ahh, great photos.

The premises look like a bastille! I did not hope that this room is a livingroom of someone from you I miss the beer, cigarettes, coffee a picture on the wall, perhaps a window, a service-woman???

I also miss the names of the persons on the photos.
But i try to reconstruct the names over the boards.

The man with the orange-Hawaii Shirt and the glases is Olivier.

The nice looking man with the white t-shirt, called nigel short, playing with the silver polished figures is your person, Alain!

The man with the short blue/white chemise, glases, little grey hairs is Stefan!

The man with the nice black zorro-moustache and the blue Hawaii shirt is Patrick!

And Eric is the man with the first two open buttons of his white chemise!

Is this correct?

Great photos, great computers and also great matches.

Regards José

Me too!

Thanks for the update Alain and congratulations!
Do you plan on doing something like this every year?

I really want to see the pictures. Interesting how surprises do come about when you'd think that because the machines have been around for so long and studied so much, one could easily predict some of the outcomes.

Thanks for sharing that with us!

Round #1: no surprises with wins of Mach III and Scorpio

Round #2 : the Analyst D++ (which did not play round #1) is crashed by the Scorpio. The Mondial XL has a very good game against the Nigel Short but forgot that a knight alone cannot win

Round #3 : The Mach III wins against the XL and joins the Scorpio with 2/2. Long draw against the Nigel Short and the Analyst D++.

Round #4 : The round of surprises !!! The Analyst D++ beats the Mach III in a beautiful game and the Nigel Short crashes the Scorpio with black : a piece won in less than 10 moves !!!

Round #5 : everything is possible, if the Analyst D++ wins against the Mondial XL and if the Mach III and Scorpio draw their game, we will have three winners with 2.5 points. The Analyst wins its game but the Scorpio finally manages to beat the Mach III.

Final standings :
1) Scorpio, 3pts
2) Analyst D++, 2.5 pts
3) Nigel Short and Mach III, 2 pts
5) Mondial XL, 0.5 pts

results are already on the tournament page

pictures and games will be uploaded a bit later.

And I want to thank Patrick and his wife for the fine material organisation of this event.

Best regards

Alain
