It was a cold Winter's night on Flotta,
The people didn't know what to do,
Tom Big said,"it won't get any hotter,I'll make a big pan of caithe stew,
He prepared the fish they'd been kept in salt,
He'd caught them the year before last,
Just the job he thought, excellent with a glass of malt,
Now Tom had a fault,he'd no sense of smell,
A knock at the door.he opened it,to be greeted with,
"What the hell"
It was a neighbour who had a good sense of smell.

Do many people eat caithes in Flotta,is it a local delicacy.
I once had stewed crab which really did not do anything for me.

Hello Tom,
regarding your fish problem, may be you should be using more beer for your self, then you wouldn't mind the fish going into pieces.
    Take care,

Does anyone out there know how long to cook caithes for mine always end up coming to pieces in the pan.
Perhaps I put too much beer in with the fish.
