Hello Neil123,

In LDO1A, LD is the model range, O means that it has/had an oil engine, ie 2179cc diesel, 1 means it is the 20cwt version (2 would be a 30cwt version), and A means that it has an Austin badge on the front.

The cab does not look like a standard BMC cab. The front panel looks like it might be from an early LD with the pear shaped grill, but that grill being removed and replaced by the slats from a later LD.

The coach built cab looks like a design for a much bigger vehicle, but it has been well crafted to suit the proportions of the LD.

Are you the owner of this unusual but good looking vehicle? If so, you might want to consider joining the club, and then you could make contact with the other members that have, or had around 45 LDs.

If you send an email to morriscommercialclub@hotmail.co.uk I will be able to email you some info about the club and a membership form.

Regards

Nigel

Can anyone tell me, if this is a standard body, the chassis no starts with LD1A, which I persume is a LD1 van chassis, but these chassis start LDO1A, It doesnt seem to be a standard LD1 shape. It was built in 1956
