I HAVE JUST USED AN EXPOXY GLUE/FILLER ON A 72 FIBERGLASS HOOD. GOT THE STUFF AT LOWES. IT IS FOR FIBERGLASS JETSKI'S AND CAN BE APPLIED UNDER WATER. I DON'T KNOW HOW IT WILL HOLD UP BUT IT IS A BEAR TO SAND OUT. TIME WILL TELL. PLUS IT COMES IN A SMALL DUEL TUBE MIX SO YA DON'T WASTE ALOT

I've had good luck with regular Bondo (red can). It sands out well. Mix up small amounts as it sets up quickly on your pallet. Plastic or paper plates make good mixing pallets, popsicle sticks or tongue depressors make good mixing sticks, applies with plastic spreaders (usually sold right next to the filler) cleans up easily with acetone.

x2 on the bondo, done a few hoods that way and they're still holding up fine.

Personaly ... I would fill the crack with fiberglass resin ... then apply a skim coat of Bondo (or whatever your favorite brand of filler is) ... sand ... prime ... paint ... buff ... polish ...

I would do the same as GaWajn except I would use epoxy resin it is stronger waterproof and less toxic. I also have a bunch of it in my shop from building strip canoes. I mix micro balloons with the epoxy and make a light filler like Bondo. But bondo works just a well.

These are all good approaches. I like the idea of resin first, especially for the deeper or wider cracks. I've also used the epoxy resin with micro ballons, it's beautiful. You can mix it up thick as cake frosting if you want to and it will hold its shape in verticle areas as it dries. It's extremely hard when dried so hand sanding is a chore. To minimize sanding I lay a piece of wax paper on the fresh repair and give it a pass with the plastic spreader. It smooths it out nicely. Leave the wax paper in place over night, it will lift right off when everything is dry.

The wax paper is the bomb ! The first time you use it you'll feel like you won the lottery. One good firm pass with the spreader will move the edges out and make them pretty flush, the whole repair area will be very smooth. Don't be temped to lift the paper until it's dried otherwise you'll pull the filler with it

Thank Joe for the tip. Quick question, you never had any problem with the wax affecting the primer and paint?
